| Problem with Yorkie Jacob is 7 months old. We just got him at 7 months. He was supposedly crate trained. 1) When put him in the crate, he cried all night so, we let him stay in our kitchen with a gate at night. The first night he did good, but the last 2 nights, he peed and pooped in the kitchen. 2) I take him out in the morning to go potty. My husband and I both work 8 hours so, he is left in the kitchen with our Miniature Schnauzer. The first day and night he was left alone, he didn't pee or poop in the kitchen, but yesterday he peed and pooed in the kitchen. I tried a potty pad, but he just tore it up. Do you know what I can do for him during the day since we cannot take him out? We are trying the pee pad again today. Do you know how old they usually are when they can hold it all day? |

| What I would do, is get this stuff called Bitter Apple Spray, and spray it all over the pad. That will detour him from chewing it up. A couple of times Coco has chewed it up because of probably just boredom and I sprayed some bitter apple on it and she hasn't done it since. Good luck and POST PICTURES!

| You might hire a dog walker...or come home for lunch to "sqease the dog". I don't think most Yorkie pups could be expected to hold it for 8 hours. As for the litter box, when you are home, work on regulating potty time and personally walking your pup to the box, treating and praising and naming a "potty word" (I use "go potty" ). Teach your dog to go to the box when you are home. They will eventually understand this when alone as well. Don't punish your dog for bathroom mistakes. This adds stress and will interfere with your training. Having poop and pee aruond is part of what you accept when you take a dog into your home. |

| You can also buy nondisposable puppy pads. They are made of cloth and are machine washable, so he can't tear it up.

| I agreed you can try the washable potty pads or you can buy a potty holder. Make sure you show him where the potty pad is and praise him when he use it. You can have a radio or TV on when you are not home. Be patience and consistent. Good luck with his training. |
