You might hire a dog walker...or come home for lunch to "sqease the dog".

I don't think most Yorkie pups could be expected to hold it for 8 hours.

As for the litter box, when you are home, work on regulating potty time and personally walking your pup to the box, treating and praising and naming a "potty word" (I use "go potty" ). Teach your dog to go to the box when you are home. They will eventually understand this when alone as well.

Don't punish your dog for bathroom mistakes. This adds stress and will interfere with your training. Having poop and pee aruond is part of what you accept when you take a dog into your home.
