lol my moms yorkie did this.. we were chasing him for hours.. it took 3 of us.. and he would come up to us where we think we could grab him and then he'd take off again lol.. little fart.. I don't even bother letting mine out of the house without a leash.. way too scared of not being able to catch them. Once my older.. 12 lb yorkie ran outside when my family was here, he ran around my aunts car, I was right behind him.. and my smallest yorkie took out after me.. benji (12 lb yorkie) darted toward the door after running around the car, then chloe (smallest yorkie) took one more lap around the car and then darted toward the door.. they just did it to test me.

OMG I was laughing so hard when I read that....but I feel your pain....I too have ran down the street in my Pj's not a good sight as everyone knows "jenns dont run" but i did that time.......she has done it 3 times in 9 months so I guess it isnt THAT bad but still......I see other yorkies walking round town with no leach just trotting next to their mommys....makes me sad......I want to know where I can remove Gidget's batteries so she can simmer down.....brushing her hair is a effort.....she wants to play with the brush and when I give her one to play with she wants the one I am using I dont know why she just cant sit still.
Do you know if classes work for non pupppy dogs? well she is 1 now.....But I have to so something......she needs to obey....she wont even let you pet her she just wants to flop around and jump and play.....

Classes work for all dogs. You might have good luck with clicker training.

That was too funny! I'm still laughing! They do love to test your patience. Gus up to this day loves to crap in the nextdoor neighbors lawn. No matter what I do there he goes. I have to get my sandles off and smak them together and he'll run home. I don't know what to do to make him stop. He just loves thier yard but only to crap on.

OMG... Too funny, everyone running around their neighborhoods, chasing small dogs!! Been there, done ThAT! I do it for awhile and give up... the last time I just went and sat on the porch,,cause if you run after him, forget it! The last time my neighbor said " He's over here, want me to get him?" I said " Good Luck to ya!" He didn't do any better. Then when noone was chasing him,, he walks up to me on the porch,, like " why aren't you all worked up, yelling and chasing me?" So, I just got up and walked calmly in the house and he followed me... and hasn't done it since.

It's really neat. I spent all night last night reading about it. You will want a professional to train you to it. It's opperant conditioning. It uses 100% positive rewards (something I believe strongly in the more I read). You use a clicker to "bookmark" the desired behavior.

For example...Let's say that I am trying to train an untrained dog to sit. I watch the dog for a time. Eventually he will sit. When he does so, I give a click and a treat. When he sits again, click - treat. I keep repeating this until the dog is coming over to me and sitting to get a treat. After he knows what's getting the "click" and following treat, I name the action. "Sit." And when he sits, "click-treat".

This method appears to be 100% foolproof and is used to train everything from cats to dolphins. Yes, they actually train cats to sit-stay-fetch in public, using this method. It really sounds amazing.

It's also used to de-sensitize dogs to stimulus that stress them out. You train AWAY bad behavior using the clicker. Seperation, barking, and agression all seem treatable using this method.

hahaha. Dontcha hate when the little boogers do that? Kelsey will escape sometimes and run around in circles and think I'm playing a game, or I'll accidently drop her leash and she'll hear it hit the ground and start running..it's aweful!

Oh sure, in fact I think there are many more dogs in obedience training
over 1 year old than in puppy training. Most people think they have
this tiny puppy and they will certainly be able to handle it until they end
up with alpha dog Believe
me we all have had the need of a trainer and obedience classes for our dogs at one
time or another. Good Luck
