| Pee`ing on the carpet Hello everyone. Im new here. Ive been looking for some help with our yorkies. My gf and i have 2. Lulu is a 2yr old female who weighs 3lbs and Louie is a 1yr old who weighs 6 lbs. Louie has been having trouble with this for a while now. He can come inside from a nice long walk and pee within 10 mins in the house. Whats going on? He will pee 3 times outside and it seems like he is saving one for the carpet! Lulu on the other hand is normally pretty good. She normally pee`s on the puppy pad when left in the kitchen while we are out but has recently taken to the carpet, it seems rite where Louie pee`s she will go too! Sorry if this is a repeted question, but ive looked and looked and thought it may just be easier to post my issue. Can anyone help? |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Welcome! Are you crate training your two? Most likely they are putting markers in your house to let other dogs know they live there. You need to (1) clean every stain with an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle; and (2) either restrict their movement or watch them more closely (probably both). Yorkies can be very challenging to house train, so I suggest reading up on crate training. You can also use an xpen. You are all in for an adventure.

| we are having a similar problem, Duke is trained on the pee wee pads, however, whenever i put our area rug or runner out, he pees on it. I spray the stay away spray but he still pees on it. I really dont know what to do.

| I also agree on the little baby boy is markin his territory lol. I believe that they will pee on a spot if they smell the urine from before. So enzyme cleaners will work on the pee spots so he cant smell it again

I use Nature's Miracle pads because they are supposed to smell different. I actually can't smell a difference, but I think Thor does... he sure sniffs them a lot anyway. Once I ran out and put a newpaper down for him to go on, and he wouldn't go. I kept giving him the Potty command, and he kept sniffing, but he knew something was different, and for once, he didn't feel adventurous. The one thing with using Nature's Miracle pads is that now I have to always make sure I'm stocked. I had a close call the other day, I had to leave a pad down for an extra long time, waiting for Amazon to deliver my next bag.

| That's funny because I just had to get rid of all of my throw rugs, including the front door mat. My guys will go into the bathroom and pee on the towel my kids put down to stand on after a shower. I just want to kill them. They know where the pad is and they go outside quite often. My Trixie will even go into my laundry room and poop on the rug I have in front of the washer/dryer. My dh says maybe we should just completely carpet the floors with pee pee pads. Coco just will barely put his front nails on the pad and then pee. He doesn't realize that the pee comes out the back??? ARGH!!!

My furkids Donating Member | If I have a shower mat on the floor they will pee or poop on that as well...However...they are really good about using the pee pads..occasionally I will find pee or a poop on the floor...I have a pad down in 2 different rooms...If they pee on one they will not poop on the same one...they will run to the next one and poop on that one.! Silly girls!

| You just got to have the time to watch them closely when they are being potty trained.. make sure they are using the pads and not the rugs, and if they start their business on the rug grab them and take them to the pad. You've got to make sure you reaaally clean the rug, so they can't smell they already peed/pooped in there... And when they finally do use the pad, PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE!! let them know they are the most considerate, intelligent and beautifull dog in the whole wiiiiide woooorld haha. and you can always use treats |
