| Going NUTS Rebellious 6 month old Help! Katy has been trained for months on her pads. Now, all of a sudden, if she doesn't get her way, she will pee on the carpet. She recently learned how to go upstairs. Well, I went up there and she had peed and pooped on the carpet. I blocked the stairs off. well, this morning because I stopped playing, she got mad and peed on the carpet. I gave her a one hour time out. Is this rebellion normal???????

| since she just learned to go up the stairs, you should let her go up and down with you so she will know that you aren't going anywhere and just going up the stairs mean you have to go in another room that you will be back. she will get use to it she just thinks you are leaving and gets upset. She will catch on that up or down stairs means that you will be right back. |

| They're like kids this way. Amelia, being the lovely little girl she is, will poop outside my bedroom door if I leave the house without her. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | Hey, golfbooboo! Rebellion at six-seven months is normal. Generally I don't believe dogs are spiteful, though they can be maddening. Remember that play or any kind of exercise loosens up the ol' plumbing. Also, if upstairs is new for her, Katy may not consider it her territory yet, and may generally feel confused. It sounds like you are limiting her space again, which is good. Try to gradually introduce her to the upstairs a couple feet at a time. I would say that a one hour time out is really long; Katy has probably forgotten what she did after a few minutes. It's fine to put her in her crate if you can't watch her, just don't assume that an hour time out is twelve times more effective than a five minute one. Good luck!

| Doesnt sound like shes being rebellious ...... It sounds more like youve expanded her territory and shes just marking it off the only way she knows how Another thing is .... if you yell at a dog this will get it excited and Therefore will be more likely to pee Dogs are smart but they dont have the capacity for rebellion in that way

| She is doing better today. I worried that daycare might have upset her because she loves just being with me. However, she seemed to be excited to stay and play. I have blocked the stairs off for now. She is going to the doctor on Tuesday for tests before her spaying. I am also going to ask the vet about this, too. I want her to check to be sure she has no infections. I do not think that she does. Thanks for your help.

| At 6 months, she is still very young and going through her teenage stage. I would suggest getting her to training since this really helped with Cash when he was that age. She is just being a rebellious teenager challenging the rules. Is she completely potty trained? Cash had accidents up to one year.
