Hey, golfbooboo! Rebellion at six-seven months is normal. Generally I don't believe dogs are spiteful, though they can be maddening. Remember that play or any kind of exercise loosens up the ol' plumbing.

Also, if upstairs is new for her, Katy may not consider it her territory yet, and may generally feel confused. It sounds like you are limiting her space again, which is good. Try to gradually introduce her to the upstairs a couple feet at a time.

I would say that a one hour time out is really long; Katy has probably forgotten what she did after a few minutes. It's fine to put her in her crate if you can't watch her, just don't assume that an hour time out is twelve times more effective than a five minute one.
