Unhappy Really hard time potty training - HELP PLEASE!!

Nina is 3 months old and she will only do her business in the house, where she shouldn't.

Because I'm working from 9 to 5, I need a new strategy that will work! So far, she stays in her crate, which has enough space for her bed, two wee-wee pads and her food. She will pee in the wee-wee if I'm not around but she won't poop. Whenever I let her out, she will find a way to do her business somewhere when I'm not watching. Because she will only pee in the wee-wee overnight or when I'm not home, I haven't been able to reward her. She's only 3 mo. old and it's very cold out. Should I give up indoor training and try only outdoor? How can I conciliate both? Desperate need for advice!!!!!

you probably know your yorkies schedule better than anyone, so when you think it is about time for her to go poop wwatch her VERY closely...... if the doesnt poop on the pad just drop her out the window and tell her not to come back until she is potty trained (just kidding) .... correct her behavior by putting her on the pad where she is supposed to be going and saying "no " when you catch her going somewhere she isnt supposed to, have little treats cut up into small peices and put in every room that way you can reward her directly after she does her buissness in the right spot....... you are not the only one who is having a little trouble toby has done this too, he pees on the wee wee pads but poops somewhere else...... i used the method i just told you about and he has gotten pretty good at pooping on the pads now, i would say he goes on the pads 90% of the time..... and pees on them about 95% of the time

hi there, my little little beaker boy is just about 4 months and finally is getting the picture of going on the pads..... i was having a very hard time with him,... was showing him what he did wrong and showed him where to go... I was always watching him close so i could catch him... it just was not working all the way.... Till one day i read on here about someone other having trouble potty training there puppy also and some one gave a great idea and it seems to be working for me.... They said that they put the pee pee pad inside a container that was deep enough so the puppy could not get out of it and was just about the same size as the pee pee pad.... and stick you puppy in there when you are showing him where to go when he has went somewhere other already and just when you are home stick him in there every 20 to 30 mins.... its making a real diff here..... good luck...

If she is only three months old then she is doing fine. You have only had her a short time it is going to take time. They say you shouldn't expect much from a puppy until at least 6 months old. If you are crate training, she should only be out of her crate when you are watching her. Make sure you put her in her potty place as soon as you get home. Find whatever method you prefer and stick to it. It doesn't happen overnight.

Gucci goes pee all the time on the wee wee pad but for some reason she doesnt poop on them. I notice she goes under the table or bed to poop. I keep telling her no and placing her in the wee wee pads in the bathroom but so far no luck. I even bought a spray that it supposed to repel her for the no no areas, but it hasnt work. I even put a wee wee pad under the table and under the bed and then she used the wee wee pads. So now i dont know what to do. I wanted for her to go potty in the batroom but I guess she has other idea.

I've placed news papers on top of the wee-wee pads - in case I ever travel with her, it would be easier for her to recognize the newspaper on the floor if I can't get the pads. I also put a feel drops of a product that claims to attract the puppies to the place where she's supposed to eliminate. What I've noticed is that Nina will go everywear she's been to before. Even if I have cleaned the spot with Miracle Works. She will go on the pads/newspaper if they are dirty, but she won't recognize a clean one as the place to go. If I place her on top, she just walks away. Yesterday, she did right 4 times and wrong the remaining of the attemps. I praised her a lot and gave her yummy treats, hoping that she would remember... It definitely takes time and patience.

Well I can't offer any advice on this because Nemo was doing so good at first and now at 6 months it has been a stressful time trying to train him I just don't understand what else to do....I am trying to stay patient but sometimes it is so hard when you have other things going on also....I have devoted so much time taking him out every 10-20 minutes after he eats to taking him out when he barks and scratches at his door to his kennel when he is in it.....I have tried the wee wee pads he tears those up and poops and pees on the floor....I did not start doing the wee wee pads until after he just refused to poop outside....he will pee pee outside but want poop....1 or 2 minutes after he has peed outside he will come right in and pee again so I am totally confused on the matter......anyway I feel you, but your baby is 3 months still kinda young so just be patient if i can be patient anyone can believe me.....I just can't stand the urine and poop smell my house smells even after cleaning, I mop my floors everyday........

Default Advice on Potty Training

It is stressful, but my neighbor gave me some advice leave the potty pad in one place where you want your puppy to go potty, and don't change it right away especially if they pee. Leave the wet pad there for a while so they will smell it and pee again. Then throw it away when it is to soaked. As for the pooping my baby just turned 5 months, and he is 85% potty trained when he feels like it. When i see him circling i run grab him and take him to the pad and tell him poop here, if he walks away and starts to circle again i take him back again and tell him poop here. The other night he surprised me and went poop on the paper by himself. He has his good days and his bad. If he poops on the pad leave a little bit of a smear so he will come to it. Good Luck and don't give up, but reward if they do right.

Gracie is competely potty trained...............only when she wants to be it is so frustrating.............she will do really well for a while...then out of the blue she will pee anywhere and everywhere she chooses.....I really believe out of spite. If she had her way, she would be walked dozens of times a day. I keep hoping she will grow out of it. If not...her new home will be in the kitchen till she learns her lesson.

Hello!! I get such a kick out of all of your stories!! This is my first pet ever, a 4 month old boy named Luigi. I have to say that I am truly blessed. We have had him for 1 month, and he has only had 1 poo accident in the house in the past 2 weeks!!! We live in Ohio and of course we have had a few snow storms, But Luigi just loves it out there!!!!!!!! In the first 2 weeks, he just wasn't quite sure what to do or where to go. We put his pads by the door where we take him out and he just went there. Then we took the pads away after a few days, and he would just sit there and wait fot one of us to take him out. So far so good. We gave him lots of praise and love when he pooed or peed outside. Especially when it was only 10 degrees out there. Hopefully he keeps it up. We were just very consistant. We also give him small ice cubes as treats when he comes in!! He loves them. Thats all he can have. Because of his sensitive tummy.
