| ![]() I have to agree with having consistency. Also, try doggie diapers. We found some cute ones on the auction site for a great price and they work! Helps to reinforce the "no potty in the house" rule! ![]() |

| ![]() Don't give up! Every dog has their own unique way of being trained, you just have to figure out what that way is. Watch how she responds to different things and I'm sure you'll soon figure out what you and your family can do to make it "click". Once we figured out what it was for Chip, he was trained in 2 weeks, BUT it took us 6 months to figure it out... by then he was 8 months old ![]()

| ![]() My guy (RIP my little Oscar) would go in his crate too, he didn't sleep there - but when we put him in there to rest, he'd go. He was 12 months when we got him... So this is what we did. We bought a big wire cage, and lined it with pee pads (we were trying to train him to go inside). Every so often we'd put him in the cage and say 'pee pee on the paper', then when he did we praised him and then let him out (don't let him out until he goes, however, make sure it's enough time between potty so he has to go). Soon after 4-6 days we didn't have to close the door - he went right in. Then we got a rubbermaid container and put him in that, for a few more days. Until we reworked a rubbermaid container to have only one side and then clipped the pee pads up the side (he was a little boy, so he needed to lift). However, when we moved 3.5 years ago he started to randomly pee, not sure the stress of a new place (new smells) - or the stress of moving, renovating, etc. Going to get another little guy in a few days, hopefully, we will have the same luck. Good luck! |

Now we're probably averaging 3-4 days between accidents. It is super frustrating because I penned both of us in my living room, figuring it would take him 3 weeks to get fully potty trained, and I'm pretty sure it's been 6 weeks so far, with probably another 3 to go. Also, I'm slowly letting go of my dream to allow him off-leash in my office building. Now I'm dreaming about letting him off-leash in my office. BUT, back to my point, that as slow as it is, there is progress. Thor had no idea why I kept putting these big, puffy squares of paper on the floor, and now he knows to pee on them. Well, he knows to pee on the one in the living room. He hasn't peed on the one in the kitchen or bedroom. But still! Progress. | |
