| I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old yorkies... I love them more than anything, but they are going to make me go insane. Problem #1: I keep the baby in her cage at night due to her pottying on the bed. Around 6 every morning she start to whine, and then bark. I have strictly told her no, but she just doesn't care. I understand that she might possibly need to potty, but I think the main problem is she just wants out of there. Now, when she starts to wake up with her whines and whatnot, my older yorkie who sleeps with us, feels the need to start jumping on me and licking me to wake me up so I will get her out. I have told them both no, put her in a seperate room to try to get a full 8 hours of sleep (she was completely across the house and I could still hear her like she was sitting right next to me) but that has not worked either... Problem #2: They constantly want to go outside. I just recently put up a little fence so they could not wander off, and now they feel like they need to be out there every minute they are awake. I have tried ignoring them, keeping them out there for a while so they get their fix, telling them no, etc. NOTHING has worked. She will sit and whine and whine and whine until I get up. Please help. I understand that taking care of pups is hard, but they are pushing everything to the extreme. I can't sleep, or get anything accomplished! I appreciate any response/help!! - Raven

| My terrier mix and my chi are caged at night around 11 pm and they bark around 6 am.At first I just tried to hush them, that didnt work,so I started letting them outside. They did their business,I let them in and they went right back to their crates.Chloe uses the potty pad,so she doesnt go out so early she just makes sure I get up to take care of them, then we lay back down if we want, she sleeps with me. Your baby, is still just that ,a baby ,and they cant hold their pee for that long and she is a Yorkie she has lots of energy, she may need to go out a couple times a day.I walk my dogs twice a day and take them out a couple of times a day,its been alittle less with the weather lately. Patience is key......good luck

| Your little one is only 4 months old , 8 hours is way to long for her to be expected to hold it at her age.. What time is the last potty break before bed ? Do you let them out through the night to potty? As they get older it gets easier , but yours is still very young . Have you considered pee pads so she can go on a pad if you don't want to get up and take her out?

| My boyfriend works nights, so she doesn't even go in her cage until 3 at the earliest...

| I guess my main concern was how to "take control" of the situation and not get up to let them out every 5 minutes like they would enjoy. I want them to have fun, but I am letting them outside at least 15-20 times a day, no joke!

| My Jax is 4 months old and he has to potty twice during the night. He sleeps with us so it is easy to just take him to the pee pad and then back to bed. I know it can be hard.....I also have 9 month and also a 11 month old .........so everyone is on a different bladder program.. Just know that it will get better!

| I think you've gotten some pretty good advise from the other posters. All I can say, is maybe having a strict cut off time for her feeding/drinking. That should limit the amout of times at night that she needs to go out. But, also like the others mentioned, she is still young...so maybe considering pee pads might help eliminate her need to go outside. In the end, its all about patience.. and I've learned you have to have a lot with Yorkies. She'll do better in time

| I have strictly told her no, but she just doesn't care. I couldn't resist reposting that ![]() Do you remember the teachers voice on Charlie Brown? That's what your voice sounds like to a dog BWAAH....BWAAH....BWAAH....BWAAH....BWAAH A couple of things are doing you in first... you have your pups together all day and then you're separating them at night? Of course your little girl is going to cry when she wakes up second it's too long for a pup to hold it all night in a few months they might be able to hold it but still it's a stretch for a puppy They whining to go out is a leader issue Puppies need to know that they will go out when YOU say they can go out when they cry to go out ..... let them cry don't try to talk to them.... you are rewarding their bad behavior by doing that by giving them attention better to leave the room when they cry because they are likely to follow you whenever you go and more likely to forget about what they were crying about in the first polace lbng
