| ![]() First of all, welcome to YorkieTalk. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Peter is still a very young pup. His whole world was turned upside down last week. Everything he knew changed. I would give your little darlin some time to adjust and socialize. He is trying to figure out the world around him. In time he will come around - I can almost guarantee that in a few weeks time little Peter will be struttin' his stuff, and loving you and your hubby like there is no tomorrow. Would love to see pics of the little dude. If you haven't already, it would be a good thing to take him to your vet to establish him as a patient. |

| ![]() First of all that breeder does not sound like a good one, show woman or not. This poor puppy sounds like it never had any human contact. It's young so you have to be patient and become it's Mommy. He needs to trust you first before he would be expected to give kisses. LOL Just continue to work with him. Sit on the floor and speak gently to him. Offer him little treats to get him to come to you. If he has been in a cage for 9wks he dosen't know anything regarding human contact. I would connect with him first before taking him to puppy classes. If he's not sociable yet classes will not be of a benefit. Of course there's hope. Your starting from scratch. Mold him how you like. Be persistant and patient. He will come around. Your expecting too much too soon. You;ll see. Little by little. Good luck, |

| ![]() He is so young. You will have a better idea of what his personality will be like later. At that age My Chachi just like to run around and would bite on our hands and feet. Now at 4 he never bites and is a cuddle bug. At 1 1/2 they start to calm down alot

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() When people say show breeder most people think of the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, if she is a member of the YTCA, please report her, the guidelines say no puppy shall be released before a minimum of 12 weeks. While a mother may not be nursing after 8 weeks, important socialization lessons are being taught such as the inhibition of the biting reflex, in other words, how hard they bite. It's hard to believe he's barking so young, I thought most didn't start barking till around 5 months. Don't take him around other dogs until he's had all his shots.

I would report her to the YTCA as well as write a review in the Yorkietalk Breeder Review Forum. You don't need to say anything besides the fact she released them before 12 weeks. This is breaking the rules, I mean you can say more, but you don't need to. The fact that she kept them in crates, while you may not like it, is allowed, and many dogs prefer the crates. I have Joey's crate by my desk, and he uses it constantly. I don't ever lock the door or make him go in it; he just enjoys it, and feels safe in it. Here's the address to YTCA: Robert Owen, Secretary P. O. Box 6204 Elizabethtown, KY 42702 Here's a link to Yorkietalk Breeder Review forum: Breeder, Vet, & Groomer Reviews - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community Please name names, there are bad apples in every barrel, but we need to pick the out!

| ![]() Oh he's just a little guy .... ![]() He'll get used to you they don't know their name for a good while and that's up to you to teach him they really don't wag their tail for another few weeks Mine just started and they're 15 weeks now As far as the growling He's probably playing .... Yorkies are vocal dogs One of mine growls everytime he plays with his toys You'd think he was the most vicious dog on earth But he's actually a completely sweet lovable dog You're jumping the gun by a mile Love him play with him and train him well you'll see he'll be great

| ![]() Penny was 8 weeks when I got her...young ..I know.....(received her for my birthday) they don't respond to a whole lot at that age... But I spoiled her so much...carried her around all the time...Peter is young...you can pretty much mold their personalities ....But at that age a lot of cuddling and carrying will help him be loving....(Penny slept in my bed from the beginning)...I think spoiling her made her the loving dog that she is today...I didn't rough play with her until she was older....and used to us.... It takes awhile to get used to new surroundings...Hang in there...It is worth it... ![]()

| ![]() I agree. He really is young, and is totally confused about his new home. Give him a chance, and keep trying to pick him up, play with him, and give him lots of kisses. He'll pick up on it quickly.

| ![]() oh, I love that he is kissing you! Welcome to YT ![]() One way to curb the not coming when called might be to not give Peter the whole run of the house - crate smaller areas with baby gates or an x-pen. Have you offered him a crate to go in? Given where he came from, I can understand if you are hesitant to crate train - but an open crate might be a welcome place for him to go lay in and feel protected in a place to call his own. Being on his level also will help too. How is getting along with your other furbaby?
