| difference between throw rugs and pee pads I am about to lose my mind. I have a yorkie and a Biewer. My Sawyer, my yorkie is 2 years old. He still will pee on a throw rug instead of the pee pad; the biewer is 8 months, and does fine. I have arthritis in my knees, so I have to keep rugs to stand on in the kitchen to help me. Is there anyway to show my little knucklehead the difference between a throw rug and a pee pad??

| Have you tried feeding him on those rugs? Just thinking if his food/water are on there he might not pee on it? I dunno . . .

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Years ago our dog would repeatedly go on any throw rug I had. Washing it repeatedly...didn't matter...buying a new one....didn't change things either....I finally had to eliminate throw rugs. Any chance you could try like a foam mat? Maybe that would work.

| hmmm... didn't know there was a difference? lol! I have been having some luck preventing re soiling on hard surfaces by using No Go, found at petco, also on rugs using organic Natures Miracle found at petsmart. It is a lavendar scent. Works great!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have one that is peeing on my bathroom mat, and cannot figure out which one. Today I put a pee pad on it and no one has used it. But she's probably gong somewhere else she shouldn't.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Having same problem I've tried everything also. My Aiden 7 mos...still peeing everywhere. I have to go back to crating again I think. He pees on my throw rugs clothes on the floor, anything and everything. I have shampooed my rugs countlees times...DH is not very happy with this issue,I can smell it when I walk into my house...which is no good. I may try the diaper things...I'm at a loss.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Well, unfortunately, to them there is no difference between the two! I had the same problem until I got tired of washing and re-washing the throw rugs, so I just got rid of them all together! If there is a better way, I'd love to know the secret!

| Mine were really weird about that. If I had a small throw rug they would pee on it. I have large oriental rugs in my livingroom and kitchen and they never peed on those

| I guess I'm not alone. My two knuckle heads also pee on our throw rugs. I think the idea about putting their food and water on them might be worth a try. I'm awfully sick of all the extra washing. I keep asking myself if they will ever stop. I can just see their wheels turning everytime I put a clean rug down." Oh look it smells nice, let's pee on it. |

| I thought it was just us. I've been debating on taking all the rugs up until we are fully potty trained.

| Bella does the same thing...part of the reason I hate the pads! She just did it this weekend too, in my moms camper! We were just sitting in it the other night, and Bella walked into the bathroom and peed on the little mat that was on the floor. Atleast she used the on in the bathroom though

| I have this problem too! We had a white rug with a yellow flower on it in front of our kitchen sink, untile we notice the yellow flower seemed to be sprouting extra yellow petals lol. We got rid of that one. Now she pees all over the carpet in the basement. I never catch her in the act either She's PRETTY good at pooping on her pad downstairs, she'll use it about 75% of the time, but she rarely pees on it. Her upstairs pad she's great with though. I am shampooing my carpets this weekend. I'm also at a loss of what to do!

| I join ya'lls club. My puppy pees on whatever looks like a huge potty pad to him (i.e all the rugs/carpets in the house). I think he'd pee even on the walls if I had anything looking like a potty pad to him LOL
