Yorkies often are too smart for us. They know the drill but I think some just might not like dipping their tail down to the grass. Who knows! Still, it is important that after you figure out the time for that dog, you take them out. If it does not do the business then bring back in and place in a contained area. 30 minutes or so later, repeat. Some dogs are sort of ADD and don't think about why they are there. Do not let it "free" to play until the business is done. it won't be long and pooping allows for play and so they will poop fast. Mine do. They have learned they can not play at those times until the "business" is done. We take a long walk a day. They have learned to do their business at their regular place before the walk (so that they can play on the walk.) Each dogs "time" can be different. Praise like crazy so they know why they are there.

I thought Josie was the only spoiled brat around. How dang sneaky can they be at poop time!!! I seriously think she hides, poops, then hides again to watch our reaction when we find it! We can put her outside but she will most of the time poop on the rug at the back door. However, outside is outside- I'll take it.

If we really want to be honest though, I am not the deligent mom I should be with Josie. When she wants to go out or I know it is 'time' for potty I open the door to the fenced in backyard and assume she will go while she is out. Do you open the bathroom door for a 2 year old and go back to cooking supper or back to bed in the am and know they will potty all by themselves?
LOL!

I wish everyone good luck. I am taking a new stance on accidents in the house. She knows better and Lord knows a little walk would not hurt me any either!!

I have nine dogs with different poop schedules! I can't take them out all the time and they do have the potty pads and are fairly good at using them. I still have times when it hits the floor. I'm just glad I don't have rugs or carpet

We're also having a "poop issue" with our 18 week old Yorkie. We just received him a few days ago. His poop schedule is 2:30am and another random time during the afternoon (anywhere from noon 'til 5). He never poops after eating ... actually he isn't eating too well. He nibbles. The vet said that his anxiety should wear off in a week. It frustrating trying to get him to eat and then poop ... as opposed to eat, play, sleep, sulk, play, poop.

Well we've had Lily for almost a year now- she's thirteen mos old . Just in the past three months she's been going poop outside and using the pee pee pads regularly for either pee or poop. I give her one long half hour walk every night and she poops midway-peeps outside all the way... like marking her turf. She goes on the pads when we're home and we give her tons of praise but she still hits the carpet with pee puddles or leaves us poop presents in discreet hidden spots. I've had my oriental rugs sent out for cleaning over the past year but am thinking of getting a good steam cleaner.
It takes a lot of patience.
Just keep taking the baby out and like others said watch the schedule..they have their own clock like people!
