Mine are chewers, too.

All of the kids toys get chewed up. barbie has lost both legs and hands. the mermaid lost a tail. Thats just the beginning. lol

Paper? good grief. Anything they can get a hold of is chewed up.

how they get a whole roll of bathroom tissue I still haven't figured out. It will be everywhere.

I was thinking of changing his name from Shadow to Shredder. Gabby is 18 months and still chews up everything.

Done That~ To my cherry tables and the corners of my "Original" 1800 woodwork moldings, it eventually stops! TG my hubby is handy! Good Luck! How about a play pen when gone?

Canyon's first day home this Monday when I went back to work, he's gated in my laundry room with everything he could possibly need or want. I come home to a chunk of wood missing out of the door frame, wood shavings all over the floor. Needless to say, he's now in a wire crate with all his needs and wants so he can't eat the rest of the door frame. I should have named him "Beaver".

Guess what my pup does?.....you know the spray that you buy to squirt onto the pee pads to help the pup want to pee there?....sorta supposed to be a lure to get them in the right spot to pee.....well my new puppy licks it.

Yep, I spray it on the pee pad and he starts licking the pee pad. GREAT!....not what its supposed to do I don't think. Needless to say, I returned it to Petsmart. Ha!

I didn't read through every response so someone else has probably suggested this but, have you ever thought of, and this is radical now but, have you ever thought of penning him up when you're not home? That would seem to be the most logical answer to me.

I mean, if you're gone for a really long time, say six or eight hours or more and you can't make it home for a play/potty break during the day like most people can't, crating him all day would be torture but what about an exercise pen? Do you have a spare room, large laundry room or basement, rec room, whatever, that you could set up a large exercise pen in and confine him to that? You could put his crate, food, water and toys in there with him and then he'd have room to roam around as well as everything else he needs to make it through the day, minus your grandparent's tables of course.

It's just something to think about if you have the room. I know many people see confining their pets in any way as some sort of torture but, unless your Yorkie is perfectly trained in all aspects and can make it for a whole day on his best behavior without any interaction (and who's can do that?) he really shouldn't have free reign of your house when you aren't home, ever.

Mine are chewers too.....table legs, wicker chests, the bottom corners of my Welsh Dressers, everything has teeth marks.

They also chewed the wall till they got some of the plaster off, then my Skyes joined in & with their big teeth to help they've managed to chew through to the stone wall of our old cottage........half expecting to come home one day & find they've literally eaten us out of house & home!

I would definitely recommend crating him. That is the only way to ensure that he is safe and is out of trouble. Plus it protects your home until he is trained

Misty was chewing on my hundred year old oak table, so, I put tape on the legs and added cheyenne pepper. Put a stop to that. I will have to try the deodorant on the frames around the doorways though, as it won't stay there!

Do you catch him when he is doing it? Our trainer told us you need to spray the Bitter Apply while they are chewing on it, and you also need to make a loud nosie, AHAHA. Don't say NO, as someone else mentioned. You need to be loud so it scares them. Do not give him a toy or good attention to disctract him because that is praising him, so he thinks he did something good. So make a nosie and spray it, hopefully that stops him, then ignore him for a little bit. This worked with the majority of things around our house, such as the table and chair legs, kitchen cabinets, flip flops, living room rug. But it hasn't worked yet for a rug in the kitchen and the wood corner of a kitchen cabinet, she is determined to chew on those! But hey at least it worked for 90% of the problems!

Lucie is a chewer too, she has even chewed on the screen parts of her x pen (hasn't made a hole in it though) and whenever I leave I put her in it so she can't get into trouble.

We have a baby gate and we can keep him in the kitchen...I'm just afraid he'll finally realize he can chew on the cabinets! It's not a big kitchen, we're in an apartment. It's just one long rectangular area (approx. 8-9ft. long, 5ft. wide). One end goes into the hallway and the other end is a wall. The gate will go on the end that doesn't have the wall, obviously. I guess it will be a trial and error type thing. Fingers are crossed!

Im also going crazy with this whole chewing on wood thing too!

i had a wood baby gate on my door because Chloe is in my room but she started chewing on that AND on the walls AND im missing all my left flip flops because i forgot to put them away!!

For the "wall chewing" thing i bought the bitter spray but she likes it...
and it asfixiated ME!! lolz
so i double taped a piece of glass to the wall plus my bed is holding it in place and hopefully no more wall chewing unless she goes on"hulk mode"and moves my bed! lolz

and for the wood baby gates i just went and bought plastic baby gates when i saw she was POOPING the wood!!!

but they are taller so i have to jump over them all the time & ill probably end up falling on my face!! lolz

now i just noticed she started to bite on the side of my closet which i didnt even know it was made of wooooodddd!!! OMG!! but im gonna try the deodorant or the vaseline and cayenne pepper thing...
