| ![]() Hey Y'all. Okay, I thought the potty training would be a breeze, as this is dog #3 and my others "got it" fast. We got Dean at 18 weeks and he was a kennel-at-night and outside a few times a day pup. Well, for fear of badly trained and aggressive and vagrant in-town doggies, I'm pee-pad training Dean inside. We also got a diaper and we can tell when he has to go, so I take it off and take him to his pee pad. He hates it. I think he's scared of the bathroom now and will go everywhere except there. I've treated and praised him lavishly the few times he has gone there, but the other 3/4 of the time he wets his 'diaper' trying to avoid the pee pad. Any thoughts? |

| ![]() We keep a wee wee pad in Toto's X-pen setup which we keep in our bedroom in this new condo [at our home in Alabama it's in the corner of the dining room ... she always remembers where it is] and we keep a pad in one of her crates in the living room. Since we never lock her in a crate we use one as her "bathroom/water/food" room on the backseat when we travel. Her surroundings change so often, we got her used to the "pad" rather than a location. An interesting thing about the diaper ... Toto absolutely will not tee tee while she has one on! She "held" it for 10-12 hours when we flew during the holidays! Every time I had an opportunity, I took her to an airport bathroom ... took the diaper off and tried to get her to go on a wee wee pad ... she would not! I don't like her going that long without going tee tee but don't quite know what I can possibly do different! I would much rather she peed in my lap than go that long without going!! ![]()

| ![]() its funny you say that........ because my mothers dog is so WIERD about the "bathroom" situation.... the dog DOES NOT like to go out in teh rain (this is a BIG dog, not a yorkie) she actually walks on teh balls of her feet when she is going through the outside bathroom area because she is so icked out..... we were on a loooooooooooong trip from northern california and our golden (who was younger and didnt know to hold it as long) had an "accident" and she peed in our van..... well the other dog FREAKED OUT she went crawling over all of oour camping stuff (stacked to the ceiling in our van) and climbed on top of it and tried to get out of teh two inch crack in our van window's back door....... she didnt calm down until we stopped at a gas station adn cleaned the area THOROUGHLY, even then she avoided that area of the car for like a month! She is only recently warming up to my yorkie because he is not peeing on teh floor anymore .......... but you shoulda seen the look she gave me when i put the pee pad on teh floor at my moms house..... she gave a really reproachful look whenever he peed on the pad... in her eyes he was still peeing in teh house and she is still a little "disgusted" with him.... |
