| My yorkie puppy chases my cats! HELP! Hello, My 13 week old yorkie keeps chasing my cats. He has been here for almost 2 weeks now. The only time he doesn't is if he is preoccupied with a toy or if he doesn't notice them or if I'm holding him. Do any of you have any tips of teaching my yorkie not to chase cats? My cats are perfectly fine with dogs. My sisters min pin comes over all the time, and they were alright with her dog because she never really chased the cats. Thanks for you help!

| My yorkie Bella is 1 1/2 years old and we just recently added kittens to our little family. At first the cats scared the crap out of Bella, but as she has become more comfortable she actually plays with them now. By plays I mean chase them around with her tail wagging and barking at them. She will also grab one of her toys and go up to them and shake it like crazy. I don't think she understands that they are cats and cats do not "play" like she does. I think it is absolutly hilarious to watch and completely harmless. As long as your cats arn't being terrorized I say let it go. They will learn their boundries, weather it is the cats swating at the puppy or the pup nipping back at them. It sounds like they get along and that is a great thing. Soon they will all loose interest. The other great thing about cats is they can jump up somewhere and get away if they really want to. Good luck!

| I think most times, dogs and cats work it out on their own. However, we have a 16 year old blind cat that is definitely at a disadvantage. So we allow sniffing, but if Coby (Reggie leaves her be) starts to bother her, we use distraction, correction, or a water bottle to train to just leave the poor old woman alone.

| Yeah I realize that my puppy only wants to play with the cats but the cats do not understand that he is playing. Another concern I have is that my puppy is still nipping which I am trying to have him stop, and if he gets to the cats close enough while he is chasing them he grabs at their fur.... I am trying my best to curb his biting habit!! Right at this moment, my puppy is sleeping right next to me on the sofa, one of my cat is right behind me and him on the sofa just chillin, and my other cat is at my foot!! hehe *Update: now my cat behind me moved right next to him!! about 5 inches between them hehe
