| Please Help With Potty Training!! My baby is 14 wks old now and I can not get her potty trained. She will go outside and knows she gets a treat when she does go, but then will come inside and not 10 mins later will go inside. I have tried pee pads, but she doesn't get that at all. She will honestly pee right in front of you. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do?? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | Take a deep breath frist. It takes several months to get them fully house trained. So for thinking your baby will get it at only 14 weeks sorry but it's too soon. You have to be totally consistent and in the beginning you have to watch them like a hawk. If you want her to use the pee pad inside incase you can't catch her then the next time she pees in the house use it to clean the pee. That way their scent is on it. Then take her to the pad and tell her Pee/Potty here and put her on it. Your in for a long road and you need to be consistent. A good thing is also to limit her access to the house until you get her going well.

| potty training belle is 3 months old now and where we live its winter and i cant put your outside its too cold for her now...so what we have done...is started with the pee pads and now i use both...paper or pee pads and i put her litter box on the paper and pee pads and we have coralled her off so that her food and water and litter box are closed in and make room for her to go in and out..so far she is doing good always goes either on the paper or in the litter box...i have also noticed with her that if her litter is full or the paper is full she will start pooping on the front carpet in the foyea...so now i know i have to clean it at least once every other day and if she does go anywhere else but the paper or littler box...we show her and give her a little spanking on her bum so she knows thats not where to go...and that seems to work also...and i tell her bad girl and she knows what that means cause when she does go elsewhere i go and pick her up and she knows instantly that she has been bad.... |

| 14 weeks old is very young to expect housebreaking to be successful. Give yourself and the pup time. One suggestion I would make that helped me. If the pup does not go outside then when you bring him in do not let his feet touch the floor. I either carried Remi or crated him for a short time and then brought him back outside. The results were worth it! Lots of love and patience neededm, especially in cold and wet weather. Both pup and I were prepared with cold weather gear as well as rain coats! |

| It takes a while my dear... We started training my baby at 9 wks and she 10 mo's now and still has accidents. At that age, although you want them to be able to run freely, you just cant. I use to put a pad in every room so that she wouldnt be far from it. Shes still so young that she needs a lot of your help right now. After she eats... you should be taking her to the pad within 20-30 min and after she drinks...put her on the pad within 10 min or so... you might have to put a soiled pad under a clean one, so that she gets familiar with what you want her to do. Praise her when she does good and tell her NO firmly when she does wrong... Be consistant and it will get better

| Shew... I am not doing anything wrong! I am and new to the forum but have been reading post since we decided to bring a yorkie into our home. Brady is 14 weeks old and using a pee pad. He us starting to get the hang of ring a bell I hung by the door to go outside but if we're not right there he goes on the pad. We also have an Aussie (we now call her mama bear) and she was literally house broken in three days so I thought I was doing something wrong because It sounds like he's right on track. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Dont give up. It is not easy! Just be consistent. Take her out after a nap, running around (exercise) or meals. When you see her doing it in the house, say no, and bring her immediately outside. This worked for me! Good Luck! It will happen!
