| Well here I am with another grooming thing. My Toto has a problem that becomes my problem with getting his poo stuck in his fur. Yuck. He gets his bottom bathed so much he justs goes into the shower and waits for me to wash him. So before I shave the little devil's fur off I thought I would ask here about what do others do about this problem, that is if anyone else has this annoying mess. Sheila Toties very annoyed mom |

| Butt Plugs....Can be dangerous We nearly lost our baby girl, at 8 weeks, because of a misdiagnosed butt plug....which was feces matted at the poop shoot.....so we now keep her anal area cut down close, to avoid any further mishaps.... |

| ha.. i just washed layla's behind this morning! i wouldn't shave ALL of him.. just around his bum area... the reason layla's got messy is that her hair is long around there.. i need to trim it! |

| Thanks for the quick replies I guess it's time to get his fur trimmed. He's a very sweet dog and is very good at being groomed. By the way what are the green circles and triangles to the left of the posts. I looked in the FAQ but couldn't find the answer. Toties mom Sheila. |

| It's important to keep the area around the butt trimmed so that this doesn't happen. It can be very uncomfortable and painful for them if not.

| Chloe had a "ball" of poo once that was still stuck in her butt a bit (I guess that's what the above poster means when they say "butt plug"). I pulled what i could off with TP, then I tried to pull the part that was still inside out of her anus (while being careful not to tear anything/cause any tissue damage). It worked okay for most of the "ball" part, but it was all smushed all over the place so I, of course, washed her little booty. She's never had the ball of poo again, but she does have a bit that gets stuck once in a while and I just pull it off, if I can, then wash the area with warm-hot water on a newborn facecloth (super soft). I don't want to shave her tushie area because the hair DOES have a purpose...but I think I may cut it shorter...

| Thanks for your answers once again this forum has come through. Toto has an appointment with his favourite groomer and she will trim the necessaries for summer and I will keep up the good work. We had Totie to the vets twice for this problem and the cost to find out why he was so constipated was prohibitive Now I realize it was a poo plug and will be more observant in the future.
