BEWARE OF STARYORKIE.COM IN CA, Encino I was checking out some websites and come across this one. www.staryorkie.com I was a little alarmed because of all the breeds they had for sale. yorkies, pugs, poms, maltese and and more... They are located in my state so i gave them a call and asked if i could come see the pups. Gina, the lady selling the pups told me i could come by in a few days, i asked if i could see the parents of the pups also and she told me that all the pups she had available were from Korea and shipped to her at 6 weeks old. this immediately teriffied me. All i could think about was those poor dogs stuck in puppy mills in Korea. they probably dont have any regulations there for dog owns. So i called the local humane society, apparently they have been to Gina and Bens house many times but were not able to shut them down because it is actually legal to get dogs shipped in from other countries!!! I just felt so helpless. I wrote to our states representatives and the other politicans about this and asked them to pass a law so that out of country puppy mills wont profit from the USA. I have not gotten any replies but i do enourage any one who is equally upset about this to do so. And please stay way from star yorkie kennels. Buying from them is only supporting the torture that these poor animals go through on a daily basis. |
Thanks for letting us know. We had a thread on here about a kennel in Texas that did the same thing but he was importing them from Ireland. The local TV station even did a couple stories in them. I am not sure what ever came out of the story or if they are still open for business and selling sick dogs. Maybe trying posting this on millbusters.com which is YTs sister forum. They are doing what they can to get the word out to everyone about puppymills and the horrors that happen there. |

Ugh...that makes me sick. As if we don't have enough problems with pet overpopulation and puppy mills here! Who do we write to? |
You can look up your states representative on an internet search or just go to this link and type in your zip code. https://community.hsus.org/humane/le...up/search.html I just sent an email to the news station in Encino, CA. So helpfully they will be interested in the story. Thanks Guys!!! |
It is a very sad thing. Just like there are puppymills here, so are there abroad. I think this is why it is so important to educate one self when buying a pup. Maybe this is why puppymills buy from puppymills. They just think of the pups as an item to sell and make a profit on. 6 weeks old and shipping - way too young!! I bet they also loose some pups from the stress. I thought air lines had regulations as to when one can send in a pup. And I know that customs is very strict here in my town when pups come in from other countries. Looks like someone is not watching. Hmmm. But I also know - there are reputable breeders in other countries beside America. T. |
That just sucks they've been to her house so much and can't do a thing - Don't let it go and you can get action...it sometimes takes time but these lowlifes count on people giving up...and please come post about them on MILLBUSTERS ..... The more you post the more people will see it in searches http://www.millbusters.com/forums/index.php Good for you putting out the word on them - they sound horrible |
I am always so surprised when I read about a site that I have looked at time and time again. I'm too darn trusting! Not long ago they gave away a yorkie to a home for I believe it was something like mentally challenged people. I thought they were a trust worthy site and their puppies sell so fast. :( I just shake my head and wonder how people can do these types of things. |
How about writing to airlines as well? If they cannot get airlines to ship to the US then they have no way to get the pups here! |

BTW - I live less than five miles from them |
beware of star yorkie.com i find it just amazing of all these diconcerning breeders Ive been talking of SIMBAS PRIDE KENNEL and my experience please take a look at my story on California Forum Its sad and horrible what these breeders do:mad: |
I thought this thread was a warning about staryorkies and importers. If it's going to start up again about Simbas, it's going to get locked and this is important stuff. |
I have heard bad things about this kennel from others too. |

This is awful! Thank you so much for posting this - these people are SICK. |
Please don't think that all people that import are bad. I have imported several dogs from Germany. They do not travel until 4 months old or older. I have not bought them for resale, but to try to get my own breedings stock. All of my dogs live in the house and not in little cages, but I do make sure they are all crate trained for when we have to travel to the vets or go to shows. They are not crated very often though. I have only resold 3 of the dogs that I have gotten from Germany. One was going to be way to small to breed (3.5 pounds as an adult), One was aggressive with the other dogs here and needed a different type of home. (We did keep her 7 months before trying to find her a new home), and the One we did import with another home already in place. This puppy was to replace one that was sent but did not pass a health exam. The German breeder replace the puppy at FULL price, but no shipping. I could not afford this at the time, but did not want the breeder to "get away" with not doing something. |
The pups get shipped at 6weeks old? OMG that's terrible, how do they even survive that? Poor babies :( |
Unethical breeder Their business is fishy at best. I was browsing the web and saw quite a few warning signs: 1) Commercial breeder 2) They specialize in tea-cups, in multiple breeds. I emailed them about their lifespan, and they simply side-stepped the question. 3) Their registry is KDF (Korean Dog Federation) instead of AKC/Canadian CKC. I can't find any reference to KDF anywhere-- suspicious. 4) Cannot see their parents (their FAQ says "they're in Korea") 5) Take credit card and will ship the pet to you directly without any question 6) "I have puppies available all the time", "Puppies are available all the time." Puppy mill? Maybe. Quality? Not likely. Legal? Probably. Unfortunately, the law protects first and foremost *businesses*. |

There are several different registries in Germany too. I register all of my Biewers and any splitters that will be for breeding(1/2 yorkies/1/2 Biewers that look like yorkies) with the IBC (International Biewer Club). There have been some Biewer clubs starting their own registries, but I want to keep going with Germany until there is more behind these registiries. At this point, I feel they are no different than me starting my own registry and printing off registration certificates on the computer. The IABCA (International All Breed Canine Association) will not accept these USA registries for the Biewers. Unfortunately the Rarities does accept them. I feel this will bring down the quality if anyone can get papers on anything they are breeding as long as they belong to one of the clubs here. |
Thanks for letting us know. You just don't know who to trust anymore. |
All my dogs like Kathy's are registered with the IBC in Germany. This is a very credible registry; I think until the Biewers have been here for 20 years the continuity with Germany is important. |
Staryorkie.com Oh my gosh, I am SO happy I GOOGLED STARYORKIE.COM, to see if I saw any negative comments regarding this "business". I was THIS CLOSE to putting a deposit on one of their puppies, an adorable little teacup Yorkie, who looked to be the teeniest sweetiest thing I ever saw, because for the past year, I haven't been able to find what I was looking for. I contacted the "owner" who had no problem shipping the little 12 ounce (yes, 12 ounces!) pup from California to me in NY! I had more concern for the little sweetie's 6 hour flight than she did! She just kept saying, "She'll be fine, hurry and make a deposit, everyone is interested in her". Thank God my husband knocked sense into me. And I am so glad I was able to find this forum. I would never forgive myself if the little thing died in flight, or got all my other dogs sick. I don't know if I'll ever find a little "purse buddy" but I certainly will never support puppy mill type business, and I am VERY happy (as fate would have) to see these posts about STARYORKIE.COM. THANKS GUYS! And, if anyone can help me find a legitimate breeder or place that has teacups and is humane and wonderful, please let me know, if you could. Thanks, I just saved $3,000.00 and a potentially sick animal. |
Ronlynn got her baby from staryorkie.com I did have suspicions about that site too.. |
I'm in California too, so I've run into this site a lot. :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown |
Beware Of Staryorkie http://www.nola.com/forums/animals/i...f?artid=167283 Check out the link above. More on Staryorkie, EXPOSED. |
my first pup I actually got my little Presley from them almost 2 years ago. Yes I NOW KNOW it was stupid..... just in case anyone wants to insinuate that in a post! I actually did look at a lot of breeders online....but I really wanted to SEE THE PUPPY in person and there is not a lot to pick from in the LA area...thus, I ended up there. I think they were just beginning business at the time and only had yorkies for sale. I checked references and actually went to a lady's home who had purchased 2 dogs from them. She HIGHLY recommended them and the pups looked happy and healthy. SO, I thought it was Ok..even though the KOREA thing was VERY ODD and was a point of concern. They assured me that people do that a lot in the breeding business and that it was THIER family in Korea that breeds them. Well, although my puppy is now GORGEOUS and healthy....1 week after I got her, I noticed her ears were BLACK inside...yes earmites....and on top of that...RINGWORM. It was horrible for her and us. Her first 3 months were filled with medications and discomfort. I called them and gave them an earfull and all they offered was a new pup....NO WAY cuz I was attatched to my little girl by then....so they gave me a $$ refund for "some" of the cost. Funny thing is they didn't even ask for proof of vet bills etc. They just did it over the phone and sent the check in the mail. Obviously not too surprised at these health issues. While I adore my little Presely and she really is pretty.....she grew to be twice as large as they estimated and she was sick for the first 3 months of her life. I now know they are seriously shady and I would never get a pup from them again. Their business however has only seemed to have grown, as I check out their site from time to time. It was a hard lesson learned. |

Definitely stay clear of them. I know it\'s hard to find reputable breeders in the LA area but keep looking. AT BEST...they are shady. |
I\'ve got a teacup female Pom from these guys. We had her for a week or so, and then she started coughing and looking sick. Apparently, she got pneumonia. Fortunately, we saved her, but these guys were willing to help us and nurse her back to health. But, we refused and let the hospital take care of it. One thing I did learn from them, is that when I went to look at the puppies, I saw that one of them was sneezing like crazy, and another that was already purchased, but was very sick, and they were nursing her back to health. But man, was the first one lively! Apparently, the cleaner left the window open at night, which caused many of dogs to get sick. Not responsible at all! |
