As a matter of fact I said previously I would not reccomend her because you do not know where your pups come from.

Last year I did start to defend her, and I did buy Brooklyn from her because she supposedly started her own breeding program. She sent me info to read about it and I thought it was a good program. For three years I advocated NOT buying from her and she was aware of this. It took three years for her to earn my trust and it was ONLY AFTER she said she had her own breeding program.

As far as Brooklyn is concerned. I had an issue with her coughing like Mia when we got her, HOWEVER she told me upfront about it and she said it was from the kennel cough vaccine. We had no health issues since. And, this is why we went back.

I did research other breeders. I've learned a lot here on YT and did buy with my heart however it's not only the byb that are selling tinies for profit. I contacted several breeders from YTCA and only two of them said they would not sell a tiny to anyone, that they rehome them or keep them. One was willing to sell her tiny for $3,000 with an open font and the other was willing to sell their tiny for $3,500 and NEITHER asked about any experience I had. There are good and bad in all and the best lesson learned is to investigate EVERYONE including your best breeders before buying. Through this I have found when money is involved that it's very hard to find anyone reputable. I know that will cause a stir but it is how I feel.

I have no idea why this breeder would contact you not knowing you, why you and not someone else, but whatever. Really makes no sense unless you know and are friendly with them.

You keep saying I should tell the whole story, but I have emails. Did she supply you with info. other then my vet bills and her say so on what has happened? I don't think so or you would not have come on here so staunchly defending her/them. defending her.

I do not negate I was wrong in buying from them. I said that right along and I knew I'd take heat for it, but let's not take away from the fact they are bad breeders and I hope this is a lesson about buying with your heart and that even someone educated when they have that want will sometimes over look warning signs. I did not have to post this thread. I knew I'd take heat for buying and knowing better, but I did it so that it may be a lesson for someoen else.

Elaine
I assume she called because of my posts. I assure you I had never heard of them until you posted.

Good enough! But please don't assume I'm lying either. I have been upfront and I have backed up everything I've said. Elaine

Again, I can't say it loud enough I am sorry she got the shots and I agree the vet should not have given the to her. Again, it does not negate she was sold sick and I want to express that point because it's important to know she was sold KNOWNINGLY ill. E.
Around here, the only one required by law is the rabies and it is not required until they ar 6 months. In areas where they require them sooner, a vet can give you a letter stating that it would be dangerous to the dog to give it sooner, due to the size and condition of the dog.

Mia has been doing great the past two days. She still has a cough mostly in the morning and through the night, but is doing really good. She is now playing, is more alert, and is eating well. I'm very hopeful that we are over the hurdle. And, I'm hoping that soon I can post a new video of her showing how good she is doing.

Thank you so much for asking.

Okay... I've read this entire thread and I can't keep my mouth shut

First of all, it is not fair to say the OP holds blame for the pup being sick. The OP holds blame for buying the pup from a red flag flaring breeder/broker/whatever the heck she is, that I do agree with. She should have never bought her. HOWEVER, the OP holds NO blame in my opinion for the sick pup.

The pup should NOT have been released by the breeder sick. Period, end of story. I can honestly say from what I've gathered any breeder with merit would never release a sick pup... they would hold it until it was well. The impression was given that the pup was better and the drugs sent home were a safety net of sorts. I probably would have taken the pup home too if I trusted that person. I would have assumed that they saw the vet again and this is what the vet said, because a responsible person would have taken them to the vet AGAIN if they were still sick.

Moving right along. I do not think the OP should be blamed for the vaccine mix up either. She is not a vet and deferred to someone she felt was more knowledgeable. There is NO shame in listening to a vet when you don't know the answers. It isn't fair to ask her to disregard medical advice when she isn't researched on the topic and especially hadn't encountered the situation before. She was worried about the pup and rushed it to the vet. Any of us would have done the same.

Sure a lot of you know better about vaccines and such, but guess what? Not everyone knows as much as you. Some of us have to rely on our vets for advice when we don't know what to do, especially in a situation with a new pup that we're worried about. We defer to professionals because they supposedly know better than us. In this case, maybe the vet didn't, but I don't think it is fair to blame the OP. For this aspect, I would blame the vet if anyone.

Therefore, NO blame for the pup's illness should reside with the OP. Most of it should be assigned to the breeder because if she had not released a sick pup in the first place NONE of this would have happened or if she DID release a sick pup she should have given SPECIFIC instructions on what to do and what not to do with the pup (e.g. educate the buyer about the vaccines since you as the breeder should know better). Thus, in my opinion the breeder is most at fault here. The vet is secondarily at fault by making a poor judgment call as a professional. The only thing the OP can be accused of is trying to take care of her sick pup.

To the OP: I'm so sorry you're having to go through this and I'm sorry you're receiving so much flack (from a secondary source no less). I hope your baby is feeling 100% better soon. Hugs to you and her.

That is great news. I'm glad that her condition is improving. Hopefully this will soon pass.

12 pages later, and WOW I had to take a double take just to make sure Elaine posted this in the right section... THE BREEDER REVIEW SECTION... since somehow this got turned around into a lets bash Elaine section. I read where Elaine states that she made a mistake, now she wanted to share her story so others would not make the same mistake. I thought that was the purpose of this section?? I have only been around since 2008 and have not posted that much (this thread being a reason why I have not). I remember finding this site, and how it helped me to read of other yorkies and the people who loved them when I was feeling alone after my loss of Gizmo. If everyone of us knew as much as some of the memebers here thought they knew, and did not make mistakes then there would be no need for this site. In my opinion every breeder is faced with situations such as this in their career, but it is the way they react to it which determins what type of breeder they are. Elaine has claimed her mistakes, and is taking care of Mia. Who is the breeder that held this puppy when she was born? Who is the Breeder that sold this puppy to Elaine? What responsibility have they accepted in this? What have they done for this sick little girl? I dont think any one denies this puppy is sick? Elaine, I am sorry you are having to go through this with your sweet little Mia. Both of you will be in my prayers.

The ORIGINAL breeder now says (As of yesterday) that she will pay the vet bills, HOWEVER, in the same email she also says if I continue to cause her trouble she spoke to her vet who suggested she then put all her old animals down to avoid problems from activists like me. So, just because the vet bills MAY be paid, that statement of putting animals down to me further shows her as unreputable. Susan, who broker's her pups has not said a word about reimbursement. Thank you for your support. I don't mind taking the heat. I deserve it. I just don't want focus lost that even educated people will buy with their heart and hopefully this is that lesson that others will not repeat. Elaine

How despicable! These breeders use this technique all the time threatening to kill their animals if people don't back off. It was even used on Yorkietalk! They do this with the USDA officials and brag about how those types of threats get them to back off.

I too find it interesting who is doing this type of posting yet again. Just take a look around on so many threads and you will see the same thing repeatedly being done. Just the other day I posted about a questionable breeder and was attacked repeatedly in a pack mentality. It becomes very tiring to be in a constant self defense mode with every stoke of the key.

Elaine~all I can say to you is you have learned a very hard lesson and you should have followed your gut instincts when you first suspected what was going on with these women. I'm hoping that Mia makes a full recovery and has a long and healthy life. Hopefully you will take your experiences and help others not to make the mistakes that you have made.
