| Testing your breeders? Hi, Besides from Liver Shunts (bile test), what other things are important to test for before breeding your Yorkies? |

| tests Check out the entire dog for soundness..knees, eyes, bite, structure, top line,those types things. They are not fatal problems, but can cause alot of unnecessary problems in future pups. I have asked several vets at cornell about genetic tests and as of now they are not availbale. You can have the eyes tested by an Opthamolgist, but not a genetic profile to see if the dog carries a recessive gene, same with bites,knees..the stud can have a great structure and soundness, but carry traits for the opposite. You need be certain to buy from a sound line of champion parents. Being from champion parents, and grandparents does not mean a perfect dog, but it gives you some peace of mind. Good Luck |
