help!!! HI, I am new at breeding , I have my yorkie pregnant right now, I did lots of research, tons of talking to other breeders, before I started breeding yorkies. But one thing I did not count on is that she will not eat, I hand feed her and can get her to eat some, some days bette than others. She has about 4 weeks left to go, will she pick up on her eating?? Is this normal??? I can feel the babies moveing and she is acting happy and everything. The vet gave her a clean bill of health. 2 weeks ago. any help with my first litter will be great thank you

Do you have a mentor helping you? This is always good for your first whelping. You will feel beeter if there is an experienced breeder there at the whelping. I am not a breeder, but there have beem some scary moments with members on here and if I ever decided to breed I would make sure I had an experienced breeder there when she went into labor. Did you switch her food to puppy food? Maybe she is "off her food" because of this. Maybe she has "morning sickness? How big is she? How big was the stud?

| Hi there, I have not had Yorkie puppies yet myself, but I do plan on breeding my Sweetie. She is a funny eater and I hope not to have any problems with her food. If your bab is not eating much maybe you can get something from the Vet? They have all kinds of diets (hight calorie). Good luck, we wish you all the best! Post photos.

The suggestion from my vet when my girl was pregnant was to mix can food with her puppy food... it helped some. But they also go through times when they don't eat as much. The day of delivery she didn't eat anything, not even her treats. Good luck

also wanted to add, that I am so greatful I had a mentor who came to the house when I knew the second baby was having problems being born... she saved my little girls life, since she was born not breathing much at all. so if you can, I would definatly get a "mentor" someone who can come to your home, or at the very least, talk you through things on the phone.

questions She is only 5 weeks. I would give her puppy dry mixed with a bit of minced chicken or beef. I give cottage cheese a couple times per week and do not worry if they do not eat large meals. No calcium tabs before whelping..but after is fine. They only way the pups will suffer is if she eats nothing for days at a time..she will eat...BUT afterwards I do anything they want to get them to eat. Some of my girls eat very little the first 4 or 5 weeks..and the pups are fat and healthy...best wishes
