Testing your breeders? Hi, Besides from Liver Shunts (bile test), what other things are important to test for before breeding your Yorkies? :aimeeyork |
tests Check out the entire dog for soundness..knees, eyes, bite, structure, top line, those types things. They are not fatal problems, but can cause alot of unnecessary problems in future pups. I have asked several vets at cornell about genetic tests and as of now they are not availbale. You can have the eyes tested by an Opthamolgist, but not a genetic profile to see if the dog carries a recessive gene, same with bites,knees..the stud can have a great structure and soundness, but carry traits for the opposite. You need be certain to buy from a sound line of champion parents. Being from champion parents, and grandparents does not mean a perfect dog, but it gives you some peace of mind. Good Luck |
