| has anyone dealt with Maplewood kennel? It is in W.VA> I found out yesterday that is where Jasper came from when I paid him off yesterday from his prvious owner(have had him for a month). He is just the greatest, but I am a bit nervous, he has " coughing ,choking spells 2 or 3 times a week.I got all his paper work last night and called the Breeder last night, was a bit nervous cuz she told me reverse sneezing and collapsed trachea in yorkies is no big deal(Ibeg to differ). Thankfully tomoorow I am taking him to my vet who I took Blake to for his 19 years of joy he broughtjoy into my life(he passedin 04).He will have his rabies shot @ acheckup .PLease wish me luck. | Good luck Vicki! Inverted sneezing isn't the end of the world, but is uncomforable to the dog no doubt and irritating if nothing else. A collapsed or partially collapsed trachea is nothing to sneeze at though! (no pun intended) Let us know what the check up yields. If it's a trachea issue, it'll be easy to diagnose, so don't worry about your vet missing something on that one. You'll have that answer tomorrow, find some comfort in that. *hug* |

| i just looked them up. it does not show that they breed yorkies. they have 3 other breeds. they are also a boarding kennel. there are 16 reports about them but i could not look it up...they want you to pay a fee to look at the reports so i don't know if it is good or bad.

| kennelchecker Hi Vicki and Lisa, I looked Maplewood kennel up. They did not charge me for the info and will be happy to share with you. I have only read good things about them. Yes, they do have 3 breeds. But the more I read about them the more I like them. They are only breeding for pets and working service dogs. I email them and told them I was interested in a puppy and could they supply me with references and they were very happy to do so. I checked a few of them and was given great recommendations. They are also registered with their local kennel club. I think you are safe. |

| Maplewood Kennel Client Hi Vicky, My name is Lee and I purchased 2 yorkies from Maplewood Kennel. I am extremely pleased with these folks. They have been there for me and my family to answer every question we have had. I bought my first precious baby 4 years ago and my second last year. We have never had a problem with either of them and even went to their home to meet the parents of my babies and see the setup. We were very happy with the love and attention the dogs receive from them and they live in their home as part of their family. These folks are doing a great service for people like me and other families in providing healthy, well socialized and trained pets to families. They even worked out a payment plan for us and trusted us. I also trust them completely and would only get a new family member from them. I will gladly sing their praises! We love our little Jasmine and Archie. |

| it is so strange that when someonee posts something bad about breeders, people from their area just come out of the woodwork to join YT so they can sing the praises of these people. how obvious is that vicki, keep looking. you do not want to deal with these people from what the others on here have said. |

| "We are a retired couple with just a few breeding dogs to help supplement our retirement plus it keeps us pretty busy. Sometimes I will help a couple of friends out by putting their puppies on my web site. Right now we have gorgeous Shih Tzus, Bichons and toy size Schnauzers. I do try and keep them at a price most people can afford. All puppies will be up to date on shots and worming . When you purchase a puppy from me I offer a one year health guarantee, puppies health record for you to show your vet, enought food till you are able to shop for your new addition, a pet food score sheet and some tips on house training." While some of the things quoted above sound nice and generous, I can't help but get hung up on that first sentence. By definition, backyard/hobby breeders that run a mill. Not all mills are dirty and many of them do love their dogs, they just don't see a real problem w/ just letting nature take it's course when it wants to. .....The Yorkie, if kept on this popularity track is going to be a different dog completely within the next ten to fifteen years. |
