My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I spoke to my vet and he is not comfortable selling me the meds. He said for many reasons. He only likes to administer 2 tops, becasue of the possibility of placentas seperating and also worries that if it was administered incorrectly and missed the muscle and something else happened. So, I'm fine with that as he is on call 24 hours. He doesn't do the clean out shot. He said as long as I see two pups and count 2 placentas, there is no need for it. |

| oxyie Oxyie is not a drug to be used without great caution. I have been advised to never give before at least one pup had been delivered. I have used it with a very slow whelper or one who has stopped. If you see both placenta's and take her temp AM/Noon/PM the first week, the odds are in your favor all will be fine. The minute the temp spikes, go to the vet..when I started I thought you could tell if they were running a temp by how warm they were..like children..doesn't work quite like that...since their normal temp is higher then a humans. |
