| I agree with 011011 last post. If oxy is going to work it will right away and will start things in motion very soon. If not c-sec. If the pups were breathing then I wonder what happened. If you get them breathing they usually don't die right away. You might have a pup breathing and it's very weak, can't nurse, and will die like a day later or something but breathing and then die right away seems strange to me. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone or anything it's just not the norm in my experiences. |

| I personally don't think Revolution had anything to do with the puppies dying. I gave Savannah Revolution with both litters, the last being about a week before she had them, and they are fine. I asked my vet about it today, telling them of your pups dying and he didn't feel it had anything to do with it either. In all his experience, he has never heard of a litter dying this way. |

| Don't you think that maybe the fact that she was trying to grow 13 puppies had something to do with their lack of nutrition within the womb? I'm not surprised that you lost a few puppies with a litter that huge!! |

| not really, that is the norm for the breed she is. larger american pit bulls throw way more pups that yorkies. he had other large litters like that and they were fine.

| I was so excited when I began reading your post this evening. Seeing the x-ray, anticipation and then the sad event. Poor little Momma and I hope she is recovering from her surgery. Such a traumatic experience for her little body. Even though I had one litter many years ago, I was completely ignorant compared to the information that passed through these threads. This is just wonderful that YT has a family that will help in this manner. Sending you my warmest thoughts and hope you able to find a resolution to help ease your disappointment. Warmly, Deborah

| I know how devastated you are, and how sad your family is at this time. Thank goodness your momma is doing better. I think your problem was too long without getting the babies out. My Vet gives 4 hours from beginning of hard labor before you start losing babies. Sounds like common Vet mistakes to me, more than the Revolution. A good Yorkie Vet is worth their weight in gold! Nothing is easy when breeding Yorkies. Hope all continues to go well with your Momma Prayers are with you and your family; Deb |

| I want to say I am so sorry... I know the disappointment and sadness when you loose a litter that you've looked forward to having ... just thankful you're little girl is ok. I wanted to comment that my vet wouldn't let me use anything for fleas except Capstar Blue on my pg bitch. Its a daily pill that you give them... No ill effects and it got rid of the fleas. |

The other thing about Revolution. I don't give my dams anything, beginning from just before they begin their Season until the pups are 2 weeks old, then I begin their heartworm meds again (Intercepter without the other poison for fleas). Great for deworming pups too, through mothers milk.

| An oxy shot can be given before any pups are out.If one pup and no contractions or alot and the uterus is not contracting. It all depends on your vet and what they find on the exam of the female in labor.SOmetimes an oxy shot is not what they need sometimes it is a calcium shot (blood work needs to be done for that). I had a singleton litter last year.Female went into labor was all the way dialated and no contractions took her to the vet if he would not of given her an oxy shot we would of had a dead pup eventually and a dead mom for they both would of sat stalled were they were.10 min after the shot she started contracting and we had a little male. It all depends on what is going on with the mother at the time of whelping with what drugs and procedures to do. Last edited by 011011; 06-27-2007 at 11:20 AM. |
