| ![]() ... well, it's over. Bo went into labour at 12:15 this morning, on the morning of day 60. Her contractions were irregular and pretty light for the first few hours, so I let her be. Around 3:30AM, they started getting more intense and the sac appeared. She pushed for about 30 mins before she managed to get the head out. The pup was alive (I broke the sac and aspirated the nostrils and mouth) but it was stuck there for over half an hour. She kind of stopped pushing so I couldn't help by pulling. When she finally started pushing again, I pulled gently and after a few pushes, out he came... but he was dead. A tiny little male... My daughter and I decided on the spot: that's it! We're going to the vet. We weren't taking any chances with the other two. A lot of good that did us. Her contractions never started again. They gave her shot after shot of ocytocyn... nothing. They finally did a C-section at 9AM to take out the other two pups... both dead... We also told them to take her uterus, while they were in there. They tell us she'll be fine. For this, we're immensely grateful... And yet, I am so sad... utterly totally devastated. All this, her suffering, her pain, for nothing... and I'm so tired... Never again... | ![]() I'm so sorry you lost your litter. It's such a gamble everytime we bring a new litter into the world. I'm glad your gal is going to be okay. People who haven't bred just don't know how touch this is. Again I'm sorry for your loss.

| ![]() Thank you everyone... She's finally asleep. She has one of those stupid cones over her head... she hates it. And she's walking around the house crying... and this, from a dog who NEVER cries... at first, I thought she was in pain... but I think she's looking for her babies... ![]() You're right, Tami... you can't know how tough this is if you haven't been through it. You know, I'm still trying to figure out what happened. The people at the hospital said when they took the two last babies out, it seemed as though they hadn't just died... maybe a day or two. And I ask myself: how could that happen? And the only thing I can think of is the Revolution product I put on her neck on June 11th... I took pains to ask the vet if it could be harmful for the babies and they checked and said no... still, I wonder. Why did she go into labor prematurely? Could it be because the pups were dead??? I guess I'll never know for sure. One thing I am sure of: I'm soooo not cut out for this. I'm not a breeder. I just wanted a family... ![]() I guess I'll just have to adopt to have one... |

| ![]() I am sorry about your puppies. They can go in any day from day 59, anything before 58 is not very good. My two litters that I have now came at 64 days and 61 days. I pray heavily from day 58 up to delivery and all through delivery. And I think I hold my breath until everyone is delivered and eating. It sure feels like it afterward. Again, I am sorry.
