This is great news. My husband said that we should all make reservations to visit her and then not show up - so that she would not be able to have any visitors since her time slots would all be taken. HaHa...

CHULA VISTA, Calif. -- Elizabeth Rivera Davis jumped on the Internet commerce bandwagon with gusto.

She allegedly started and operated an Internet pet store where she claimed to sell purebred terriers of all types.

Dog lovers from across the country responded to her ads and some sent upwards of $800 to her via Western Union, with the promise the dogs would be then be delivered, CVPD reported.

Police say the only problem was that Davis never shipped a dog. The only dog she has is a family dog, and it's not the breed she was claiming to sell.

Davis did this over 20 times to different people across the country. She would change her e-mail address and mailing address each time, CVPD reported.

Detectives learned Davis was using a Western Union storefront in Chula Vista to receive her payments, and there she used her correct name and cell phone number. This information was all that stayed consistent.

The addresses she listed were to places like empty lots and the library, CVPD reported.

Investigators learned she has been doing this at least since last December. A warrant was issued for her e-mail service, as well as her phone.

Davis was arrested by the Chula Vista Police Department on Wednesday July 20 and charged with 17 counts of burglary and 17 counts of theft by fraud, all felonies.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday July 22 at 1:30 p.m. in department 16 of the South Bay Courthouse.

The alleged victims ordered dogs from as far away as the east coast and Canada. Police say there are probably more victims that police are not yet aware of.

WTG Everyone who helped to get this cow arrested. I for one would not be willing to pay for the heartache that was caused here and I probably would have fallen for something like this myself having never bought a dog like this. I always get my dogs from kennels and sometimes off farms where I see the mommies and daddies and tend to see the families as well. I will one day be looking for a yorkie pup but I am really scared to do this as there are so many scams out there. Has to be a pup though cause my Max is the WORLDS BIGGEST WUSS. He is such a baby but I love him to bits. I am glad they got her on 11 counts 2 for theft 2 for false pretenses and 6 for the G theft in excess of $400.00 WTF San diego police dept and all those who were scammed by this woman and reported it. Now for those who did not report it to step forward as well.

I wonder how she could live with herself doing this. Hopefully she does not just get put on paper for it.

The detective said that there's a long list of ppl that she had scammed...So we'll try and see if we can get our money back.........

Senbal2005--give yourself a huge pat on the back....thanks to you this woman was apprehended, and she has an enormous bail. I hope you get your money back, but if you don't, you've done a great service for others who may have eventually fallen victim to her scam. Please keep us posted of any updates on the case.

That IS terrible!! This is a great place to find a reputible person to get advice AND yorkies from. We are happy YorkieTalk is here. Most of our puppies we had last round went to Yorkie Talk Members, and their Vets were VERY pleased with our pups. This place cuts out a lot of bull, and as they say"Bad news travels faster than good" but here you will hear both sides pretty dang equal. We are very sorry to hear of your situation. I feel so lucky to have stumbled onto this site.

I am so sorry for the little girl and mother for having to lose, but in the end it was all a win. You all seem so much like family. I just started looking for a Yorkie myself, that is how I stumbled into Yorkietalk, and I feel like God brought me in here so I wouldn't make any hasty decisions.
