| Co Ownership should be done only when a person feels comfortable with a breeder and the breeder with you . The terms of the contract must always be clear and understandable for both . I co-owned Venus with her breeder until her championship and It was a dream come true . I've known others persons that co-ownership was real nighmares. |

Pet quality dogs are just that "pet quality dogs". If the male or female has more going against their quality they should not be bred for any reason. They should be altered to keep the poor quality traits from passing on.

| Pet quality and Poor Quality are 2 different things, IMO. Let's say ONLY "show quality champion owned and shown dogs are the only ones that are deemed worthy enough of passing on their seed. And as already mentioned, not only are they very expensive, but show breeders aren't always willing give them up, how in the heck is anyone else supposed to have a Yorkie? If they plan on breeding or not. Seems to me like this would leave the door open for only a few select, elite people to ever be given the opportunity.Honestly, it's the "show" thing again...it gets so old... *By saying this, that is NOT to say that I think any two Yorkies....or any other breed...should just be stuck together.* |

| I personally know many breeders and show breeders that the most important thing for one of their puppies is to make sure that he/she ends up in the best home possible. The all mighty dollar sign does not even come into play! A reputable breeder or show breeder will put the welfare of their dogs/puppies above any money they can sell them for. I personally have seen many CKC, APR and whatever other registered yorkshire terriers there are out there sometimes being sold for more than an AKC registered dog. So I do not find that to be creditable information. As with anything whether you are shopping for a pet, breeder or show prospect you need to make sure you do your homework. I also believe that a contract when placing a dog/puppy should always be a necessity, especially for the welfare of the dog/puppy.

| As far as the price issue, I can't say how credible it is...I was merely going off what was stated in another, similar thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49096 |
