I personally know many breeders and show breeders that the most important thing for one of their puppies is to make sure that he/she ends up in the best home possible. The all mighty dollar sign does not even come into play! A reputable breeder or show breeder will put the welfare of their dogs/puppies above any money they can sell them for. I personally have seen many CKC, APR and whatever other registered yorkshire terriers there are out there sometimes being sold for more than an AKC registered dog. So I do not find that to be creditable information. As with anything whether you are shopping for a pet, breeder or show prospect you need to make sure you do your homework. I also believe that a contract when placing a dog/puppy should always be a necessity, especially for the welfare of the dog/puppy.
