| Contracts I would like to know what you personally would do "If you sat down to sign a contract for the purchase of a dog(s) and knew that you could not live with the agreement, how many of you would go ahead and sign the contract or how many of you would walk away?". Yorkykisses |

| If I could not "live" with the specifics, I would walk away. And I wouldn't expect any less from any of my prospective clients. |

| I would simply say sorry but no thanks and look for another breeder. It is simply not fair to sign a contract and then do as I please anyway. Breeders work very hard to improve their line and it is just that THEIRS!!! They have every right to stipulate what they want for their puppies!!!!! |

| If you know that you cannot abide by the contract - you must walk or follow the contract - it is a binding agreement. |

| I agree with this. Besides that, my conscious (sp?) wouldn't allow it.

Like I said, to me, it would depend on the stipulations. If the contract stated...like...wait two years before breeding, I could agree with that. If the contract said I had to get their approval on who I could or couldn't breed with...well, that would bother me and then I'd probably walk away. (just examples)

| When I just recently bought my second yorkie I signed a contract and that was very different for me as my first yorkie came from a little retired woman in wyoming whose only stipulation was that i love the puppy I had gotten from her forever. I then studied the contract on my second yorkie (admittedly on the drive home after signing), and I realized much of what was on it was in an effort to try and protect the pup. Such as having her spayed soon to prevent multiple breedings and uterine infections, even that ownership could revert back to the breeder instead of a shelter if the necessity ever arose. So, I have a new found respect for some of the issues on contracts.... |

| Kimberly, if the breeder gets a pick puppy back - then I think it is only far that we agree upon the male (stud), since she is really involved due to the puppy she would be getting. Then I would say okay. If no puppy is involved - then I feel like you - my decision. But I would choose carefully and well educated to make the best match I could to help improve the standards. Since I want the pups to be as best as they can be. I always give a contract with all my pups. It is best when dealing with money and a little life that all is in agreement and everything spelled out. Nothing can be hiden as far as I know. T. |

| I always carefully read everything I sign, and wouldn't sign if I had a problem with anything. When I purchased my Malamute, I didn't agree with the vaccination schedule (every 2 weeks until 20 weeks of age and I didn't agree with the early spaying (they wanted it to be at 3 months). I expressed my concerns and the contract was changed to something I felt comfortable with, but if the breeder hadn't wanted to make the changes I would not have signed it. |

A contract is a legal binding document, if you cannot live with the contents and if the other party is not willing to change what you can't live with, then you MUST walk away. You do not have the option of signing a contract with your fingers crossed. It's all or nothing. Take it or leave it. Sorry, but that is the way it goes. What is the purpose of a contract if the parites had no intention of keeping it. Put yourself on the other side. | |
