How to Euthanize

I think this thread has long lived past its usefullness. I applauded the original poster because I think the thread got some breeders thinking about this issue and YorkieRose gave some great advise.

While I think everyone has the right to an opinion sometimes we don't need to post them as all it does is cause further flames.

I do not agree with using a hammer.

I also realize many breeders have to make some difficult decisions with life and death.

She said she would take a hammer to its head in her post. I think it is extremely inapropriate on a dog fanciers forum to say that. Especially when she saw the reaction to putting the puppy in the freezer. I think the people who have gotten upset have good reason to be.

I lived next door to a lady that her little nephew actually put her bunny in the microwave and turned it on. The little boy didn't know what he was doing cause he was only 2 or 3 I think. Anyway she comes running over to my house screaming with this bunny with it's insides boiling. What did I do. I ran outside with the bunny and swung it. I didn't like doing it. I cried doing it. But something had to be done and quickly. What jeanie is asking is what methods can be used to euthanize a puppy if that puppy can't be taken to a vet? She is asking BREEDERS that know what to do. Just think if she hadn't came on here and asked this question..she would of thought that putting the pup in a freezer is a proper method..the vet did it so why shouldn't she. But jeanie wasn't so sure that was the right thing to do (it wasn't sitting right with her) so she did what any of us would do..she came on here to ask "hey is that whats done or is there another way?"
Jeanie I think you had a legit question. I feel bad for you that were treated so badly for asking. But keep in mind that not all of us on here are like that. There are alot of us on here that would gladly answer questions without judging or criticizing. I hope you got some answers..

I may not be a breeder, but I am human and realize that is very cruel. I have no idea why she is being so strongly defended. If I came on here and said "By the way how do you all feel about me splitting my dogs head in half with a hammer because I feel like she's suffering" I would get linched out of YT. But someone comes on here and basically says the same thing and she gets commended and defended. I don't get it People on YT have gone up in arms when someone has come on here talking about their yorkie being too big, or that they are frustrated because their puppy is peeing everywhere and it got spanked, but we get a question like this and suddenly "WE COMMEND YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN AND ASKING WHAT YOU WANT"????

I don't think she really meant she would actually slam a hammer over it's head.
I think she is just getting frustrated with all of the criticism and it's making her say things I don't think she'd normally say. I've read alot of jeanies post on other things and I've never known her to be cruel hearted.
I do agree that there are alot on here that jump all over a person for so much as tapping a yorkies tush for being bad. I think that is wrong..educating is not criticizing..criticizing doesn't get anyone anywhere..all it does is make the person criticizing look uneducated so there point is never taken.

Right VC5! Where is administration now? This is perfect example of how someone who is clearly being abusive gets away with it! Send a message to one of the administrators and ask why.

I agree, this thread has gotten what she wanted, answers to what if, numerous times,, then " what if this, what if that," It is endless, it is doing nothing but upsetting everyone now,,, THE END.

Anyone can report a bad post or thread anytime. The ! in lower left corner. The Admin. isn't aware of everything all the time.

If it was a legitimate question the original poster could have asked about euthanizing puppies without giving a horrifying example. By giving that example it implies she is considering it. If she would have given several examples (from her reading) then maybe we wouldn't have all taken it so literally.

Now the tide has turned and anyone that was offended is apologizing. Very odd. The apology should come from the original poster for inciting controversy with an insensitive post.

Yes, there are things about breeding that are hurtful to puppy owners but there are mature ways to discuss things without trying to be disgusting.

All she had to do was ask breeders how they handle euthanizing sick puppies. A couple breeders that have run into this would have given her humane choices and the discussion would have ended.

If one doesn't intentionally "bait" then one needs to learn what that means before posting.
