Anyway, you are right, any breeder with any registry can be unethical and dishonest and lie about the health and lie about the parents and background of the dogs--it can be done REGARDLESS. That is why I am a firm believer that you are "buying the breeder" just as much as you are "buying the dog."

I have a friend who's belief was not to buy from a breeder unless you are comfortable enough to sit down to dinner with them. That's how new friendships are made.Julie |

| I think I addressed that AKC was a stricter club, and CKC was more lenient. I understand that people have a right to voice their opinion here but I do beleive that some things said are really not necessary. Im sure some people here have CKC registered yorkies, and saying they will register anything with 4 legs really makes it sound as if those peoples dogs are of lesser value, quality, etc. It can hurt peoples feelings. I really do beleive AKC REGISTRY is better, the registry itsself, but I have seen some CKC yorkies that were just as nice as AKC registered or possibly better. Many times its insinuated that CKC breeders are probably in trouble with AKC, or they are dishonest. I dont think it would be well taken if it was said in the reverse. I breed both and I only raise yorkies, so no chance of sneaking in some personal designs. Im getting a tougher hide so my feelings are not hurt but I do think sensitivity to others should be taken into account. Ive seen alot of these threads lately. |

| Oh, my feelings were not hurt by yorluvr's comments or anyone elses. I don't think anything was meant by any of the comments made here, but I too have developed a thicker skin when it comes to that. Everyone has their preference of registry---sounds normal to me. Bottom line, I stand by my breeding practice-if you can even call it that w/ only 1 breeding pair, but hey, we are happy with it. That is all that matters. I have 4 happy puppy owners that would tell you the same about me.I have owned AKC dogs in the past, although they were not bred. I have never had any type of problem with either them or CKC, so I don't know who is "stricter." I have been told that AKC will do investigations of breeders if they get word that they are shady--I have been told the same about CKC. (BTW, I reported a breeder to CKC and they did strip them of their registry rights w/ them and sent letters regarding the situation to those who'd purchased pups from the breeder and registered them. I can testify that they stand behind that statement.) But yes, I agree, I have seen alot of negativity towards some CKC breeders, though not here this time. I do not think it is fair to assume they are ALL bad when some (like me) are honest and do things the "right way." Anyway, I really don't care. It's not that big of an issue with me. When it comes down to it, it is the prospective/new owners I am concerned about pleasing, not anyone else and they are all perfectly satisfied. |

We still keep in touch, I've been over for cook outs and visits (the locals anyway), we exchange xmas cards too. I feels great!!

| You both have enlightened me on CKC breeders. That is why these forums can be educational, all the way around. There are good and bad breeders with any registry. I know whats in my area, and it was wrong to stereotype the group as a whole. My apologies. Julie |

| yorluvr I just didnt want someone feeling bad about their pet. The funny thing is when I bought my new stud the breeder just truly hates CKC and that was their comment too "they registry anything with 4 legs" and "I can take a black barn cat send in the pics and walahhh they are registered" "So dont be putting my name on any CKC dogs!" I have no problem complying and anyway its in writing!!! It didnt bother me a bit and I belly laughed on the comments. Because there is some truth to it. Bad reputations usually start out of some truths. Anyway your first class for apologing, not to me or bama, just to the people who may own a sweet CKC yorkie who is completely purebred and the light of their life. |
