Thanks! To answer your question. We...my dad that is...got Cody, our male first. He is both AKC and CKC registered. When I was looking for Trixie (our mom) I looked at the dog itself more so than the registration...she happened to be CKC. I don't show, so there was no neccessity to have an AKC registered dog, nor do we have what you would consider an "extensive" breeding program as far as number of pooches.
Anyway, you are right, any breeder with any registry can be unethical and dishonest and lie about the health and lie about the parents and background of the dogs--it can be done REGARDLESS. That is why I am a firm believer that you are "buying the breeder" just as much as you are "buying the dog."
