| Florida Reputable Breeders Hi YT: I was hoping that you could point me to a great reputable breeder in florida. I have realized that yorkies are used by unethical breeders to make money; this scares me. Im buying this pup for my mother for her birthday. She had at a time 2 yorkies, one was stolen and the other was taken from her after she divorced. Anyway... My question to you is, which breeders in florida would you recommend and why? The breeder must consistenly produce healthy, show quality dogs. Money/location not a concern. Dogs have to be in the mid upper range of the breed as far as size, i dont desire a mini dog and would like a calm, great temperament dog. I have checked the list from YTCA and the list is vague at best. Thanks and have a great day, Roger |

| unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to find reputable breeders in my experience, the club is a good place to start and there are some guidelines to follow-there is a post somewhere I can try to find it. Both times, my husband has had to travel to get ours. my second time around, I looked for a show breeder who tested their lines for genetic faults. I also would look for someone who doesn't mind you asking a million questions and is excellent with communication. |

| Your best bet is to visit some local dogs shows in person. The things you'll learn from talking to Yorkie breeders will help you appreciate the breed and can really help you get connected to other good breeders in your search. You can request to be put on a waiting list for puppies; some breeders sell 1 year old show potentials or retired champion Yorkies. Members here can provide recommendations, but best research is your own research

| Yes. Show breeders don't produce all show quality in every litter, but generally an active and reputable show breeder will breed for temperament/deditable build n traits I don't show either. Hope this helps! |

Again, you can also ask if they have older puppies around 1 years old. Those are probably the best! They are the ones that were near perfect that were kept to be monitored for show potential, but ended up not being show dogs for minor reasons no pet owner could ever detect. Both of my puppies were purchased from my breeder, after being monitored for show potential for months. They were 5-6 months before they decided to be sold as a pet. Not many people know to search for a puppy this way because backyard breeders are the ones in business seeking you out with their fancy websites. The really really good breeders may or may not have websites. They definitely have no desire to push or pressure you to buy their puppies. Rather, you'll need to prove to them that you're a responsible pet owner and that you'll care and love their Yorkies like they would. Seeking out show breeders in person is not not the easiest way but it's the simplest and ultimate best way. You just need the time, patience, effort, and heart to search them out.

| I'd be doing Google searches online for Yorkie dog shows. A quick search on my end, I found this show coming up in July. You'd have a good chance to meet with Yorkie breeders! Good luck... Goldcoast Yorkshire Terrier Club of South Florida Event No: 2016418001 South Florida Fairgrounds 9067 Southern Blvd. West Palm Beach, FL Start Date: Saturday - July 16, 2016 End Date: Saturday - July 16, 2016

| Hi Roger, I live in Florida also and researched until I found a breeder that I was comfortable with. I got my baby from Carter Yorkies in Ga. Lisa has awesome AKC pups and has been in the business for a long time. Our baby is a year old now, 100% perfect vet checks and awesome all around. You can google her and find her website or she has a facebook page. Hope this helps... Angie |

| I also agree with going to a show to see pups and show breeders. Since they breed to better the breed, they breed for health, temperament, and conformation. My little girl came from a show breeder who does temperament testing. She has the most amazing disposition! Katie loves people, has so much confidence, and is such a happy little girl. I didn't care about having a show dog, but health and temperament are important to me. My little girl was three when she joined our family. She was shown to her championship and bred twice before being retired by her show breeder, who is a professional dog trainer by profession. A great breeder makes all the difference in the world. The four Yorkies I had before her were all special, and I raised them from the time they were pups. My experience with Katie has been truly extraordinary. She has such a love of life, such a wonderful temperament, and her training is amazing. She has learned that her mom is a real softie, but Katie is still so good. I hope you find a healthy, loving pup for your mom. What a special, loving gift!

| Katie comes from amazing bloodlines and they truly care about their dogs! A note to OP when people recommend breeders, I would strongly caution against buying from a breeder who advertises tea cup puppies, this is not a term reputable breeders would use. |
