| How much for my yorkie baby? I posted on other forum but thought might be best to post new thread so here it goes... We have one female yorkie that we are going to have to sale. She will not have papers but she is purebred. Mom was ACA and dad was AKC. I never filled out papers because never thought I'd breed them and papers are not that important to me. She seems like she will be bigger, like I'm guessing 6-8 pounds even tho mom and dad are both only 4 pounds each. I paid 900$ for my female yorkie and 800$ for my male yorkie. I've never sold a puppy so with this info could you guys give me a ball park of a good price for her? Thanks so much in advance. |

| Any testing done on the dam, sire, pup? Are you giving any type of health guarantee? These things effect price.

| I'm guessing no to all those. Just family pet. I will have it checked out at vet for sure tho. =\ I'm obviously not some big breeder so please don't hate on me, not saying you did by the way, but I feel it coming lol. I just can't keep her since I'm at my limit of how many dogs I can own. I want her to have a wonderful home most of all. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | First of all, if only one dog is registered with the AKC, you cannot say she's pureblood. ACA is not a legitimate registry, and if she was registered with the AKC at one time and then registered with the AKC, chances are extremely high she did not have breeding rights. If someone breeds a dog without breeding rights, this is the same as stealing, just because it's simple to do, does not make it any more right. If someone buys it, they are buying stolen property. I personally think you should have the offspring fixed and placed in the best homes you can find, I would charge whatever the neutering fee was. Many people do not believe that you should breed pets, if you want to breed, you need to learn how to choose breeding dogs.

| I don't see how a piece of paper can say if it's purebred or not. In all honestly, the ACA female has the characteristics much more than the AKC male. This has got me wondering if he is purebred now because his looks are so different. His body is solid black but he does have the blue color in his head hair but what really puzzles me is his legs are mostly blonde with even tad of white. I researched today and I could not find that white was a color at all in a yorkie. So this has brought a lot of wondering to my attention. Part of me thinks he is more Morkie than Yorkie. Like I said, this is AKC dog so I don't see how that paper can prove anything really because couldn't they just lie about who parents were and such? I don't know, I'm just asking. Another thing that makes me wonder is because their first child looks more like my Morkie. Their first child's ears are down, not up, and she roughly a year old. So I have so many thoughts and questions right now. This would be a pet and without a doubt not show quality. Thanks again for all your comments. Appreciate them. |

| This thread sounds a lot like people buying and selling used cars. Lots of people exploit dogs, mostly Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls, to make a profit but looks like Yorkies are treated the same way. All this talk about money and no mention of the best home for the dog. Perhaps I'm being too harsh but I've seen and rescued too many of these "vanity breeds" that have gotten discarded once boredom sets in. |

| Maybe you missed my comment "I want her to have a wonderful home most of all". That is the ultimate goal but as you said used cars, would you just give your car away for free just because it's going to good person? I was planning on using the profit I made from her to spay and neuter my precious babies. I'm not just out to make a buck. I love every single one of these blessings that have came into my life but I cannot keep because of the limit of dogs you can have is 5. I wasn't aware of this before. Maybe I took what you were trying to say the wrong way but I did most certainly say that I want her in a good home because I couldn't imagine her being abused or neglected as that would break my heart. I simply have used this forum for certain information I have needed. I actually felt like it was a safe place to come and talk about our common love of yorkies. So many people are so quick to judge someone else tho and it makes me not even want to post because there will always be those people that have to say things like breeding is wrong, only get rescues, your animals should be fixed, your dog is a mutt not a designer breed (really surprised I didn't get that by mentioning a Morkie) and if you can't afford to take your pet to the vet for every scratch they get or little sniffle then you shouldn't have that pet. It just breaks my heart cause I see this all the time and I'm sure there are people that think those things about me but they don't know me and they don't know how precious my babies are to me. Dogs without a doubt are a blessing from God and who are we to say someone doesn't deserve an animal when maybe that animal could be in a wealthier persons home but not nearly as loved and cared for as the poorer persons home is. Wow I'm just in a mood tonight lol. I just wish people weren't so quick to judge others is what I'm saying. I'll get off my soap box now and if I offended anyone I truly didn't mean to. Just something that has bothered me for so long that I just had to get off my chest. I know some will hate on me now and that's fine. You are all totally entitled to your opinions as am I and I respect your feelings even tho I may not agree. I hope you can do the same. |

| I have given away cars for free to people in need. The latest Yorkie I rehomed was 11 year old Penny. She had cataracts and was almost totally blind. I paid for her surgery and now she can see well. I recently met a person who was a perfect match for Penny and as she was looking for a second dog, I gave Penny to her. Getting Penny to the right home was my only concern. |

| Dealing used cars and dealing Yorkies are two completely different things. A car is property, a machine. A Yorkie is a living, thinking, feeling being. If you want to sell your dog it is legal for you to do so and I can't stop you. My personal choice is to not buy, sell or breed as long as there are so many discarded ones out there. | Female rehome I am sorry that you are having to rehome your baby girl. You asked for a reasonable price for her and I would say between $300 to 500 to a good home that would love and take care of her. It is often mentioned here that if you give a dog away for free, the adopter may not appreciate the dog and also may not be able to pay the vet and care fees. Good luck, and make sure you visit and screen the new mom/ dad and check that they have the means to care for your baby. Please find a home in your area so you can check it out well. By the way, if she is not fixed, that should be a condition of sale if you are not able to do it. Otherwise she may be used to breed!! You don't want that to happen. | Thank you very much for the low cost spay/neuter sites and to the other for your compassion about having to place my yorkie girl. Both are very much appreciated. |
