| Has anyone heard of Karen's Yorkies? I am thinking about purchasing one from her but I wanted to check with you all to see if you heard or have experienced purchasing a yorkie from her. |

| She has really pretty babies! The prices are reasonable for a very good quality puppy. Good luck!

| She does have pretty babies and beautiful stock, although I was a bit put off with HOW MANY Moms she has. I would never agree to her contract tho. I agree her prices are reasonable

Also she has at the top that the pups have a 6 month guarantee, but the contract says 12 months...you might want to ask which it is and get her to clarify why they say two different things. | |

| She is in colorado springs right? Well i do too. Anyways i think she is way overpriced for what she is selling, sure her dogs are nice but for the prices they should be sold on full registration to the right home. If they are required to be spayed/neutered(which they are) then they should be sold for pet prices. She does seem to have a lot of dogs too, so personally i would never buy from her. Plus when i contacted her a long time ago she was quite rude. |

| Wow! 1. 30 females and 10 males? 2. 48 hours to have a puppy examined (by two different vets if a problem arises)? 3. Her contract counterdics itself about the length of her guarantee? 4. The fact that the only necropsy results she will accept are those from Tx Med.Diag. Labs in my eyes is just a cover up so that the pup won't have to be replaced. Now heres my reasons for these comments, please keep in mind these are just my opinions 1. That is a lot of Yorkies, I have 9 and of those only three are breeder females. I have three males, one is neutered and a pet, one is a pet and my main stud (also my service dog who alerts me to Sycopy attacks) and the third is my future hopeful for a stud and a pet. With 40 adults how does this breeder give each dog the individual attention that they need on a daily basis to be well adjusted dogs. Now add the puppies, even at just two puppies per litter and only breeding 10 of her females once a year thats another twenty Yorkies. Don't get me wrong I love Yorkies as much as the next person but hey, there is NO WAY on earth that you or anyone for that matter can give 60 dogs individual attention on a daily basis and still get everything done that is needed to run a smooth, clean and healthy program. And thats figuring giving each dog just 20 minutes of attention a day. That comes out to twenty hours aday just for attention, when would you find time for cleaning and feeding not to mention grooming and health care needs. In my own mind on this alone I would have to wonder, is the puppy well socialized? 2. This is not enough time in my eyes, I give my adopters four business days from the time they pick their puppy up. And why would the adopter have to have the puppy checked by two different vets within 48 hours? If the puppy was healthy when he/she left the breeder than one vet check up should be good. It sounds to me like this breeder is just trying to set it up so that the buyer won't have much of a chance if the puppy should become ill and need to be replaced. 3. How long is her guarantee really for and what does it truely cover? Having two different lengths of one contract could possibly make it hard for the adopter to come back on a contract. Depending on the health condition the breeder could say that one condition was only covered for six months while some other health issue is covered for 12 months. Here I am going to say "buyer beware". This could just be an over site on the breeders part, but if it is brought to the breeders attention and then isn't corrected you can bet that something isn't right. 4. What happens if the adopter is from out of state or even from somewhere like Canada? How do they get this survice done at this facility? I understand wanting a necropsy done as I have that in my contract as well, but I also realize that certain conditions call for special circumstances. As long as the place doing the necropsy is reputable and in good standing with the AMVA I will accept their reports. Once I recieve them I send them to my personal vet to have them gone over with me so I fully understand them. In demanding that all necropsies are done at the Tx. Medical Diag. Labs this breeder AGAIN is covering any chance of having to stand behind her contract. I don't know many people who can make arrangement to send a dogs body to Tx. if they live in say Idaho or Canada. That would end up getting alittle pricey to say the least. You would have to have your vet package the body for shipping and then special shipping arrangements would have to be made with the airline. This is just another reason that I would again say "buyer beware" These are just the ramblings and opinions of me... a very small Yorkie breeder nothing more nothing less.

| I wanted to add, that if you do decide to go with her. write down the things that have been addressed here and ask her about them. A good reputable breeder will not be offended and will answer your concerns honestly. Make sure you are in complete agreement with the contract or ask her to change it until you both are happy with it.

| OH my gosh! I bought my pup from her! I live in Texas. The puppy is now eight months old. She was really sweet, She just wants to make sure they get a good home that is for sure. She asked me up front if I had the time to spend to make this yorkie a good home! IT was a really great experience and I am considering buying another from her. She is state licensed and has a great reputation, trust me I did my research! Anywho good luck on your search. It took me a year to find the perfect one! |

| I'm a small breeder in Colorado (only a female and male, both are family pets) and have looked at Karen's dogs. She has very nice looking dogs and has been friendly with me, but what put me off was her condradictions in her contracts and her prices. I have bought both my yorkies from breeders in MO (I did my research, and neither place was a puppy mill). If you still decide to go with Karen please have her clear up her contract for you so it is more reasonable.

| Bad Experience with Karen's Yorkies I am posting this to warn yorkie lovers that are looking for a pup. I would advise to stay away from Karen's Yorkies. We had a horrible experience buying a dog from her. We purchased a dog from her and when we brought the dog home we became quickly concerned. The dog appeared to us that there was a lack of grooming, hygiene and health needs that weren't being addressed. The dog was matted with knots all through her coat. It took 2 hours brushing and cutting them out. Her nails were so long. Her ears were full of dirt and they smelled horrible. I took her to groomers and had her cleaned up. We were shocked at how a breeder would pass a pup off to buyers in this condition. We then took her to the Vet to have a check up and see what vaccines were needed, heartworm screen ( she was not on any heartworm meds and over 1 year old) and rabbies vaccine. The Veterinarian was very concerned about her ears. They cultured her ears and were told she had a severe bilateral ear infection! She could have lost her hearing! A 10 day course of antibiotics ( Gentamicin) was required to clear up the infection. The bill was over $200! We were told by Karen that this pup was a shy dog, but it appears to be more than that. The Vet said she was not abused, but has never been socialized. She is very timid, skittish, nervous and terrified of men. It takes sitting down and holding her to calm her down. She has improved some, but just with me. Any men, guests or even my husband at times she is hovering to the ground and running away. She also has a very nervous pace that still concerns us. The worst thing is she has NEVER wagged her tail! It is so sad to us that we are waiting every day to see her tail wag! The day that she does we will be ecstatic! We had posted a thread a few weeks ago and had to have it deleted. We got a phone call from Karen's Yorkies telling us that if we did not delete the post we would be suied for $250,000 for Slander! We were also told we would be getting a letter from their lawyer if it wasn't removed in 3 days! Our previous post was not slander, just strong opinions. We have now posted strickly facts to warn others. Hope this helps others |
