| Gail, I will sign the petition after reading the rest of what's attached to your post, but I want to make it clear that I'm in favor of letting breeders decide individually for themselves if docking is right for them. I want the breed clubs and show judges to learn to respect that individual choice and evaluate the dog in its entirety without getting all hung up on whether a tail has been cut off. I am opposed to making this a legal matter.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Good so am I for breeders choice, but if it is outlawed as a valid procedure by Vet associations, we shall have no *choice*. And more worrisome is what is bloody hell next?

| Here is the link to the petition. I am not sure that I would choose to dock a tail I would definitely want to research it further, but I believe it should be breeders' and veterinarians' choice. I am in favor of how Canadian show breeders can choose to show their dogs with full or docked tails. Ear cropping and tail docking should remain legal, and once again be returned to the curriculums of our Veterinarian colleges - Sign the Petition We need to protect pups from puppy mills and large commercial breeders who care little for the health of our precious dogs. The more laws we place upon the dedicated hobby breeders who pour their hearts and souls into producing healthy, happy dogs with good temperaments, the greater the chance that the Yorkshire Terrier that we know and love will start to disappear.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thank you all. I like you, am not too sure what a difference we can make, but to me the important thing is, we are willing to take a stand to make a difference, that one day our *little voices* might become a roar, that we build the foundation that says a few things.

| It's so discouraging, Gail. The harassment seems to come from all directions and it's very clear to me that we are facing a not-too-distant future where household pets will be forbidden. I'm so very sorry for that.

I am #1178 on the petition. I have been fighting this battle and these people for many years, and I am so disheartened by the apparent eventual outcome, and I am worn out. I am praying that others coming up behind us will carry on this battle....if they dont, all is lost for breeders and pet owners. | |

| #1183 Imagine not being able to dock my Sheeps tails and the suffering of maggots and fly strike in the long tailed breeds, imagine that I could not tag their ears as part of the careful observation in a disease managment program aimed at putting a stop to a nasty disease called scrapies that has become a mad cow like issue in American sheep. Inagine not being able to castrate my sheep or goats- herds of smelly horned Billy's goring eAchother in the side, hormones, violence- all preventable, but some Pe Ta member doesn't understand why my goat should 'suffer the pain of castration' with no knowledge of what suffering a life can be for an animal in a world filled with fighting intact males. Imagine that I cannot remove my dogs dew claws- I just have to wait til their snagged on the couch, torn and bleeding and have an emergency vet visit. Imagine that I cannot pierce my daughters ears, that I cannot pierce my own. What next? The burden of decisions such as these need to weigh on the hearts and minds of the dedicated breeders in conference with their trusted medical professionals not tossed around arbitrarily at the whim of an uneducated by stander.

There are sooooooo many issues that people are not knowledgable about, in all different species of animals, who's care, treatment, and management is dependent on procedures that are not only necessary, but vital to the program in place for that breeder of those animals. Like ANY government regulation, these "nibbling around the edges" with regulations, are "the camels nose under the tent" or the "foot in the door"....make tail docking illegal, then comes the ear tags, dew claws, de-horning, nose rings on bulls, etc......
