| ![]() What a hard lesson to learn. I feel bad for all those involved. I think the advise of stuffed animals was a good one. Can't hurt anyway. So far (knocking on wood) I had not lost an entire litter. BUT I had a mom that had a false pregnancy she went through the entire motions. She was a little out of sorts at first. I am glad Tinkerbell is now spayed. Glad the farmer vet new enough to do the spay and the section successfully. One think I noticed is how long Friend let momma stay in labor. If it's hard labor that's too long. But in this perticular case it didn't matter, pups were premature. Hugs to you and friend and tinkerbelle! Irene |

| ![]() I am sorry if this breeder is a good friend of yours Kimberley, but I am going to say it...this is a perfect example of a breeder not putting the best interest of the animal first. This poor bitch had demonstrated twice that she was incapable of carrying a litter to whelping time...but she was rebred for the third time. I will not ask why, because there is no legitimate reason. She could have been a world champion and the end of her line and the breeding should not have been done. The bitch was allowed to labor far too long..why the wait? The only reason is, the possible prevention of the cost of C-section..there is no other legitimate reason to allow a bitch in obvious trouble to wait a few more hours..the sooner the section, the better. Each hours you wait, the poorer the bitches condition to undergo surgery. This was a no win breeding from the start..and a breeder knew it, but did it anyway. I am angry, very angry. |

| ![]() Poor baby! Please give Tinkerbell extra hugs and kisses for me. For this poor baby to go through this 3 times is so sad. They do grieve just like a mother losing her baby. The breeder that we were going to go with, her yorkie did the same thing after all the puppies died. She kept crying and kept going from room to room looking for her babies. And her milk was still full so she was very uncomfortable.

| ![]() I am not going to yell at you. My Lacey was purchased at a local pet store and she was the best dog ever. We did not have a clue that it was bad to buy from pet stores because most get their dogs from puppy mills. I was only 15 when I got Lacey. My parents surprized me with her. Lacey did not have any health problems at all until she got kidney failure at age 13. Not every puppy bought at a pet store has a healty pet like mine. You live and learn. In fact, I did not think too much about it until I came here. Yorkie Talk has taught me a lot. I know I might not agree on everyone's opinions, but I just can't stay away. I have been hooked. I still can't get little Tinkerbell out of my head. I still can't stop thinking of that poor baby looking for her puppies. I wish I lived closer so I could give her a big hug and lots of attention. But, I am sure her owner is really comforting Tinkerbell right now. She needs all the love and attention she can get to help her through such a difficult time. My heart just breaks for her.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Nicole...I LOVED your post - I remember back in the days I didn't know what a Puppy Mill was either - matter of fact - my husband got his first 2 cockers and we got Tessa together from what I now consider a mill - she is 10 years old but I STILL remember that awful place....It took me another 5 years before I was on the computer learning about them - So many of us talk over and over about certain subjects...I know it gets very repeatative sometimes - What's nice to know is that someone actually listened and learned & may re-think some things based on the information they've read - I applaud your post because it sounds like you really have made some good decisions based on your new knowledge. I too used to think I wanted "just one litter"....even my own vet encouraged me to breed Chanel - but based on the wealth of information on sites like this - I totally changed my tune also. I still love the idea of breeding but so far.... I leave it to the pros. and I can't get Tinkerbell out of my head either - Kimberley - how is that poor baby doing ? I sure wish I could come hug her too - it's heartbreaking knowing she's missing her babies so much...do you think she'll ever be the same after this ? |

| ![]() How about this. I used to work at a mall pet store when I was 17. I didn't know any better either. I remember the pups did come shipped in crates and some were sick and had health issues. Now I won't even walk into one that sells pups and kittens. It bothers me to death that I worked and sold pups to people in that environment. Now I'm the opposite! Don't feel bad, we aren't born knowing. Most importantly, you learned and know better now. YOu can educate someone else now..spread the word girl!! |

I agree...I would not have bred her this time, either with her history. Nor would I have allowed her to go as long as she did...I would have done it after 1 1/2 hours. I understand your frustration. Tinkerbell went 4 hours from start of hard labor to c-section prep and start of surgery.
