| Are you a breeder....let me rephrase my question....are you an exprienced breeder? If you are, then you have been preparing your stud for this feat and he will be fine. If you are an experienced breeder, you are also knowledgable about having two NEWBORN litters on the ground ALMOST simultaneously. Congratulations on your impending litters....you have more courage and obviously more credit line on your credit card ("just in case") than I do! If you are NOT an experience breeder, you are stepping off into treacherous territory that is NOT in the best interest of the puppies....and THAT is what breeding is all about....THE PUPPIES. YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO THE PUPPIES TO BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITH THEIR GENETICS. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO LOOK GOD IN THE EYES AND TELL HIM YOU DID THE ABSOLUTE BEST YOU COULD DO FOR HIS PUPPIES, FROM PLANNING TO PRODUCTION. Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-15-2012 at 06:53 PM. |

| You know I have been breeding for about 5 years but have never came into this situation. Also I must say I always try to give this site the benefit of a doubt, but I must say reading all the post and how rude the people are instead of helpful on here. I know see where some yorkie breeders stay away from the criticism. People who think they are better than everyone (Not everyone) and think they are the highest standards are all full of it and need to look in the mirror and see how they are. I my self have only came across one good yorkie breeder and she has passed away and is no longer here to mentor me! Look to help people out is that not what a forum is? Not look to criticize. I shall take my question somewhere else. I was just waiting for a response to see how many rude people are out there questioning everyone's ability. I dont know you as a breeder but Im sure you were not born one!!!!! Also my money situation is none of anyone's business. If I couldn't afford it I wouldn't be here! It is a very sad situation and I feel for the new breeders because some of the old ones think they are the best and can only do it. Well the old ones die off! Also I dont think bring GOD into this is necessary!

| I am sorry you misunderstood my answer...I clearly answered your question, and again, your stud will have no problem, IF YOU HAVE PREPARED HIM FOR THIS TASK. I am sure if you are doing this, ie "experienced", your stud is prepared! I commend you for your courage in having two newborn litters within several days of each other...that takes great preparation, as well as financial resources.....that is a FACT, not a rude remark!!!.....I never asked you or commented about what YOU had or didnt have...just said it was better than mine! Obviously, that is fact too...not rude!! I did say if you are not experienced, you were facing the possibility of a mess...again fact! You have 5 years under your belt...excellent start...I studied pedigrees and lines and genetics and diseases for at least 20 years, from 1980 until 2000...only THEN did I think I possibly knew enough to find an experienced breeder to mentor me before I rolled up my sleeves and jumped into breeding....so, it took me longer to learn what I thought was important to a breeding program, it than it did you....again, fact, not rude! Old breeders dont die off, sweetie....they live forever, in the outstanding, beautiful, solid, healthy, proven lines they worked a lifetime to develop! All those gorgeous Yorkies you see floating around a show ring, those reflect generations of lines developed by those "old breeders" you sneer at and perhaps feel contempt for. Hopefully, all present "new" breeders are striving to continue these outstanding, proven pedigrees, and do no damage to the years and years of diligent hard work from those that laid the foundation for us....I know I do my best with a mere 35+ years of studying and continuing education devoted to this breed. That too, is FACT...not rude! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-15-2012 at 08:06 PM. |

| Different breeders breed differently....I can tell you how I do my males...I do NOT skip a day between breedings. I breed 3 consecutive days in a row. My reason is because if she gets pregnant on the first day of breeding, and the second day and third day, she will go into labor on about 63 days from the first breeding...theoretically. If she goes into labor on day 63, the puppy conceived on the 3rd day of breeding will only be 3 days less mature in development, than the baby conceived on day 1 of breeding. If you skip a day between breeding, that moves the maturity differences up to 4-5 days....and that makes a lot of difference, especially if the litter comes a couple days early...that makes the babies conceived on the last day of breeding WAY premature and your mortality rate jumps significantly. This is how I do it and the reasons behind my my actions....I garnered this information from many written resources, and my mentor showed me first hand "the proof in the pudding". | Sapo, thanks for returning to this thread and righting the wrong! I admire that in anyone...I will take a note from my own book as well! I will admit that after this thread I scoped you out online and was able to see that you have had puppies advertised on ebay and other less reputable places. I also saw that you sold adult dogs always because you didn't have time to take care of them with the kids and all or the pups were afraid of the kids etc., I will assume that that is not just a selling tactic for you and that you were really selling them for those reasons, but I will gently slap your hand and tell you that you need to stop selling pups on those types of sites. Stick around YT and shine your skills and become the breeder I hope you want to be. There are many breeders here who would never sell to people in the markets you have been advertising. Also, you still need a mentor, it is obvious that your experience, while admittedly your still learning is not exactly perfect yet. Please be sure that if your going to breed that you do it in the manner that is best for the pups! Hope to see you around here a little more.

GREAT CONSTRUCTIVE ADVICE! I am hoping OP takes it as such and is not offended. Part of learning anything in life is having less than beneficial or even unacceptable behaviors, pointed out to us! Sometimes, it is in an area that is so simple, it just never occurs to us. When the day comes that you think you are beyond learning something, anything, from ANY source, you are doomed to eventual failure! | |
