No Longer a Member | Beaufords Kennel in Missouri is NOT a puppy mill Beaufords Kennel in Missouri is NOT a puppy mill Posted Today at 11:14 AM by DawnF Hi All... I am seeing posts claiming that Beauford Kennel in Missouri is a puppy mill. I have to dispute this from experience. A few years back, I did some intensive research on the web in search of a healthy yorkie. Someone advised me to look into Beaufords kennel as they had purchased a yorkie from there and was very pleased. I spoke on the phone with Ron (owner) many times. He was kind enough to give me reference names of others who have bought a youkie from them. I talked with a few of these people who had only good things to say about this breeder. After careful consideration, I made the decision to purchase my baby from here. As anxious as I was to have her flown to me, Ron and Peg would not allow this happen until the puppy was a certain weight as they were concerned about her health and safety. When she was finally ready for her airplane ride to me...my daughter and myself waited anxiously at the airport for her, as if expecting an adoptive child. I took her to my vet the following day for her check up. She was healthy, full of energy and as the vet told me, came from a good home. My vet was so impressed with my new baby that she took this breeders name down and also referred them to anyone looking for a healthy, happy yorkie. I have recommended Beaufords to everyone who is looking for a happy, healthy yorkie, in fact, a friend purchased hers from here as well. Peg and Ron are the most genuine, and honest breeders. During the time I waited for 'Roxy" to get to the weight she could be transported to me via airplane, Ron happily took time to talk to me on the phone to let me know her progress and took pics for me. I've seen puppies that came from puppy mills....Beaufords puppies do not. They are well cared for, played with, and loved from day one. I notice another claim in a post that this same person notices they now sell maltese. I also have a maltese. I purchased her from a breeder here in FL who raises yorkies and maltese. These two breeds are often raised together and in some cases bred together to create 'morkies'. This does NOT indicate that they are a puppy mill. I HIGHLY recommend Beaufords to anyone looking for a healthy, happy, and well cared for puppy. I would purchase another from Beaufords in a heart beat. Dawn |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Not at all suspicious that your two posts are in support of this breeder at all. Not suspicious at all. For the record, any breeder who is purposely cross breeding Yorkies and Maltese are not doing it for the betterment of either breed. They are doing it for profit. Good breeders are only interested in bettering the breed. Gotta love a site that accepts all forms of credit cards and even Wal Mart Money-Grams. I'm not understanding the link between dogs and ash trays, though.

| I went to the website and those people must have 30 dogs - I saw enough and got off the site! How can any breeder of an operation that large possibly give that many dogs all of the love, personal attention, playtime, daily grooming, me-time and quality life when they have that many dogs? Where do all of those little dogs live? Who looks into each little face each day to see how it is doing, looks it over for anything out of the ordinary, tells it "I Love You" several times a day, takes it walkies and gives several tummy scratches through the day. How much lap time does each get? Maybe it is just me, but I wonder what kind of lives the dogs in operations that large have? It would seem to me that those dogs live more like farm animals than beloved dear pets intensely involved in the owner's lives. Are many breeding operations like that? Is it me or do operations that large drive everyone else crazy, too - just thinking about how the dogs live?

Well said...I find it funny the amount of people that create accounts just to come on here and support a breeder. Not suspicious at all!

| Viewing their website made me sick to my stomach The "breeders" for sale, while cute, are in no way a good representative of the breed, and the puppies all look scared to death! I bet you're the owner of said kennel. Just the word KENNEL denotes, in my opinion, a puppymiller. I also think that the Health Guarantee is not any guarantee at all, it's lousy!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Others may want to see this thread for more information: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...uppy-mill.html. To the OP, you have admitted you haven't visited the kennels, so you can't not say they aren't a puppy mill. Just because the puppies look healthy, it doesn't mean the breeding dogs are well cared for. Mills have healthy puppies all the time; otherwise they couldn't stay in business. You can talk more about your dog's health after it reaches the age of 4 when genetic illnesses are more likely known, but you cannot vouch for them not being a mill until you actually see the kennels.

| In my rant, I didn't even get to the important genetic and health issues but that concern is just understood by those who love dogs when we see a website like that - we know there is a trail of tears a mile long behind just about - if not every - breeding. Talk about no life and no hope, those little "breeders" have neither. They are just dollar signs who breathe for a while to breeders like that.

| They are selling adult female dogs who have been bred or are about to go into heat along with puppies. How on earth can someone be a responsible breeder who cares about their dogs if they will sell a pregnant dog!!!!!

| It amazes me that people seem to think all vets are experts about every breed of dog. Unless a vet shows, and is actively involved in showing dogs, I don't think most really know anything about whether a dog is a well bred representative of any breed or not. They can tell you if it is a yorkie or not, and healthy at the time they see the dog or not, but not what the standard is and whether a particular dog meets the standard. So when people say "my vet said....."

| OMG, there were 26 puppies listed on the site for sale, even more puppies if you count the ones still on the site but sold, plus the breeders for sale. How can you not think that it's a commercial kennel, ie a puppymill?

| Don't know if they are a "Mill" or not, but I find it hard to believe a vet started recommending a breeder after just seeing one of the pups from that breeder. I was a little concerned when I saw the web site and there were ash trays for sale. I hope for the pups sake they are being taken care of. |
