Well, I haven't read any posts in this thread that were hateful or threatening but thought the person was suggesting Private Messages or direct emails or something were sent. I think everyone that posted was being very stern as a dog's health and maybe even its life could be in jeopardy and everyone seemed trying to get the point across to the poster, young or not. |

Would giving calcium tablets relieve the symptoms she described if it is indeed a false pregnancy and the dog has lyme's disease? Or are we to accept that this was some amazing coincidence? I highly commend all the breeders who offered their learned advice. I think if I was one of their ranks I would be quite reluctant to get drawn into these crazy dramas. The longer I am on YT (all of 2 months now!) the more I see how common these crazy threads are! |
I have not heard any updates. |
Although most of my posts were strong, I truly hope I was not cruel or harsh. That is the last thing I would do seeing as how I, too, was given some strong words when I first came on YT. I was really feeling for this dog and wanted to do everything I could possible to make the OP understand that her situation needs the attention of a vet. I will continue to pray for this dog. I hope, in the end, everyone is ok. And, also for the record, - I never PM'd the OP. |
I do hope all turns out well for Bailey. While I may have been harsh by saying get a cab and that the person sounded Immmature. I don't believe that I was out of line. However it does bother me that threats were made. I truely hope that's not true. |
i really can't believe that some stooped so low- but i cant believe it was any of the members who were posting; of course, we havnt seen the mails, but agree that they should be forwarded. i was young when i whelped my 1st litter, and by the time i was 12 i had already started my research on the breed and whelping, when only my granny had a yorkie who was not to be bred because I didnt know enough yet and knew that once the breeding began, i would do far more than my parents, and i was right- but being left in charge of a pregnant yorkie at 13? thats a bit much to expect her to handle. so i'm sorry, but i dont think her age should really be a factor in telling people how wrong they were in their postings (i'm not refering to the threats- those are inexcusable). either her parents should have been more hands on, or they should not have allowed the girl to be bred. i dont think telling someone with a pregnant And sick yorkie to get a cab is harsh- when my friends dog had unexpected pups and developed severe masitis, they didnt have a car, so called me who got my dad to drive them, but they told us if we couldnt not to worry, they would get a taxi... to me, that was normal concern, willing to do anything for mother and pups. KAS- i'm so glad your girl was taken to the vet and is now getting the care she needs, but i understand why some where getting so blunt with you, in my 1st and reread of the posts, you didnt seem to be understanding the gravity of the situations you were describing. i'm not being mean or rude, but i think that if you took on the responsiblity of a whelp, you should have been more prepared and aware of any and all complications, and i hope you agree with that and will do more research before you breed again. keep us updated after the vet visit tomorrow please! thoughts with you all for a good outcome! |
Kudos to the breeders and others who have all reached out to help what appears to be a dog in need. Always remember that it is our passion for all dogs that brings us together here. KAS, I hope you can appreciate how much we care for dogs, and will say and do whatever we can to ensure that they are properly cared for. If you were upset or frightened by anything said, please try to understand how truly concerned and frightened some of the members here were in thinking your dog may die if she didn't get to a vet. We are all doing the best we can to help you with the limited information we have about Bailey. I hope she is doing ok now. |

If you are insinuating that either of us are directing hate mail to this young lady and her family there is no validity to that accusation. This young lady had been posting desperate posts on several older posts over the last 48 hours, requesting advice and not taking it. Where were her parents during this situation. They should be monitoring their daughter's internet actions. As I stated above, damned if you do and damned if you don't. |
I did not respond as I thought other breeders said what needed to be said... What I have never understood about people who are suppose to be full of love, can be so full of hate... I love Yorkies. I love all dogs, but for the life of me I could never threaten or send hate email to anyone for anything...I am pretty good at giving a scolding to some who act stupid... Sending best wishes to all involved... |
I would like to clarify that I was NOT referring to Jim or Mary in my statement that some things should not have been said. IMO they were completely in line and did nothing wrong. I sincerely thank them for being there for any poster in need, even though they are often not heeded, which is a shame. I don't feel that they acted like they were the end all and be all or degraded anyone. They offered pointed, matter of fact advice and did not get firm until they thought the OP was not getting the severity of the situation. Even then, they were not harsh or mean. They handled themselves better than I ever could, which is why I kept my mouth shut until the whole thing was resolved. I feared I would be so harsh I would get myself banned. |

Others offered support as well, and it didn't appear to me that it had to do with a certain club or belief system. I think everyone was terribly concerned about the life of this dog. I think the advice given to get this dog to a vet immediately would have been the same regardless of age, experience, or anything else. That's just my opinion though. Quote:

Well seeing that I am responsible for starting this thread for KAS. I have been monitoring it and I did not feel anyone was being mean or hateful in it. The situation that was described clearly showed that this dog needed to get to the vet. If it was a 13 year old that was posting and by the sound of her posts that would make sense then her parents need to take some blame and step up for not fixing the situation. Yes, I did send a PM before this thread was started to explain how to start the thread. My PM only gave her instructions on how to post a thread in the breeder section and not on older posts. When she could not do that then I stepped in and made a thread for her. If someone did send them hateful or threatening emails or PM then I would hope that admin would step in and fix that once and for all. We may all not agree with what someone is doing but for someone to threaten anyone else is grounds for automatic banning in my opinion. To the breeders that posted. You did an EXCELLENT job!!! My hat's off to you in stressing the dire need to get this girl to the vet. Your passion in this breed was shown during this thread and I am so thankful that there are people like you that will not sugar coat the importance of medical care. GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!! |
First I hope that Bailey is alright. Lymes Disease can be pretty serious. I hope we can be updated on the health of Bailey. Like everyone else that posted on this thread, there is no justification for threatening emails, and if they came through PM, to this OP, then she needs to report them to Admin. A suggestion though for ADMIN: Can we have a different highlight color on JUNIOR members who post here, they are shown in different colors on the main page that shows who is on at any given time. At least then, we would know we are actually dealing with a young person. |

But, I do think Purple would be a nice color. |

Ah never mind, I see where we put our date of birth in our profile details. |

I think the distinction could be a good idea, but even if the thread had of started with her age, I think she got valid advise- when the life of a dog is at stake, I don't think things should be sugarcoated... if her seemingly casual approach had not been mentioned because you all knew her age, would that have helped? I'm sure she's came across a lot worse online than being told to take her sick dog to a vet. And I doubt it would have stopped the threats- just made them focus on her parents instead of her. If people want to be cruel, they will be. I'm just thinking back to when I was 13- I would have rather be treated and spoken to like an adult, but maybe that's just me- but if I knew that the severity of a situation wasn't being mentioned because of my age, it wouldn't have made me happier... However, it's all a moot point and out of our control. My only concern is for Bailey and pray that her owners are doing right by her. |
I'm just checking in to see an update on the momma. Does anyone know anything? Is she ok? |

Wow, I had to take a quick speed reading course to find out what the outcome would be. I've had many emotions on threads before, but I must say this one made me the sickest to my stomach when I 1st started reading it. Symptoms of shaking, can't stand, contractions, and labor for over 24 hours. In a typical pregnancy this female would be dead today. I was a wreck while reading! A job well done to Mary and Jim! I can't imagine how you were feeling while this was happening. Still hoping for a positive outcome and praying for a false pregnancy followed by a spay. |
Teresa (TeresaMag) and Diana (Greenwood Biewer) you both were great to help this young girl out when she needed it . I know your posts, pms and making phone contact with her helped her decide that she needed to get the Mom to the vet . You went beyond just making posts on the internet offering advice, to making contact in a way that you could talk to her one on one and convince her to go to the vet. Diana , thanks for the updates on what was happening. Hope to hear from the OP soon on how the Yorkie mom is doing. |
I'm terrible with the whole time zone thing; will the appt be soon? I hope she's still doing well- please let us know! |
I got an update from KAS and her mother.. Bailey is doing well. It was confirmed to be a false pregnancy by the second vet yesterday afternoon .. she has Lyme’s disease and is being treated with pain medications and 28 days of antibiotics. She was up last night and able to eat and walk.. still feeling a bit weak but doing much better. She is getting good care by her owner and her parents and they are on top of the situation. Thank you all for your help and concern, it was appreciated. Diana :animal-pa |
OMG! What a relief. Well not a relief that she has Lyme's - that's horrible, but she is being treated and that is good to hear. I wish everything goes well from this point forward. GreenwoodBiewer - thanks so much for posting! |
Thank God!! :D |
Thank you so much for the update. I hope all goes well with her treatment and they are considering get her spayed ASAP. |
