You are correct, However the fact that the OP has not come back & someone else is doing the updating leads me to believe that it is true and is why she hasn't come back because she is afraid. As the person updating for her has said.

Wow -- what a roller coaster of emotion! So glad it turned out well and Bailey is getting treatment for the Lymes! Looks like examples of "how to" and "how not to" respond to uncertain medical threads.

Huge kudos to Mardelin and Woogieman who continued giving generously of their time, experience and knowledge just in case the dog might have been in labor. Your constant patience and devotion to the dogs themselves is always amazing. You set examples for the rest of us to emulate! I would send kudos to GWB for contacting the family direct and getting the straight story, except she also took a jab at the breeders who were doing their best to help this girl with that "club & credentials" thing. Using what looked to be an emergency thread to further a dog politico agenda is not the best example to show our young member, jmho though.

It sounded like the 13 year old may have been just seeing what info she could dig up online while mom was in contact with the vet and actally on top of the dog's situation. Mom and vet may not have even thought labor was a serious possibility for all we know. I remember back in 4H days though -- it was nothing for a 13 year old to birth & raise a calf, so it might have been the daughter most involved, but I tend to think mom probably was handling things and daughter was thinking of ways she could help, (i.e internet). Still the folks who gave advice and urged her to take the pup to the vet are to be applauded regardless. Always better safe than sorry.

I was a little surprised to read some thought nothing hateful, mean, threatening or inappropriate had been said. REALLY???? Are we allowed profanity? Even when made into creative acronyms or cute symbols replacing letters, it still means the same. But I could be wrong. I guess it is allowed. I also thought personal attacks and insults were not allowed, but I might be wrong about that too, since all of the following quotes were allowed to remain, even though we now know they were directed at a 13 yr old????

"YT should BAN this member forever for the reason of animal cruelty at best!"

"What the H@@@@ is wrong with you. ... Good grief I don't understand immature people like you. "

"Your (OP) flippant attitude is offensive!!!"

"And WTF you would feel the same way? Then take your butt off to the vet."

IDK they seem like personal attacks and insults to me but maybe I have the wrong idea???? I have been known to before, have the wrong impression, that is. I left off who said what, because that is not really what is important here. More important to see if this really is acceptable here.

I also agree that if the young girl and her family received hate mail and threats as Greenwood Biewer said, those should be forwarded to admin who I hope would deal with the members concerned. I think we all agree on that (well ... except for the person who may have done it!) That is pretty low down and immature -- not to mention against the law if threats were really made. All in all, I guess the young member was shown two very different sides of YT! But that is the way of the world. I still ♥ YT, even when we show our rough edges.

Hope KAS comes back, lets us know more about her pup's progress and continues to learn. There is such a wealth of information here and she seems to be in a learning mode.

. The only info everyone had to go on in this thread is the info the Op gave. I think alot of people went out of their way to help this young girl. Thank you to everyone on this thread that tried to help this dog.

I agree. YorkieRose summed it up perfectly when they said "What I have never understood about people who are suppose to be full of love, can be so full of hate..." When you disagree with someone attacking them only serves to alienate them more and hate just escalates hate. To send any kind of hate mail is abusive. In life we must treat all living beings with kindness, and live the golden rule. We must be aware that sometimes there is a different story going on behind the scenes and not always jump to conclusions. Mardelin and Woogieman offered sound advice during the whole thread and only stressed the urgency of seeking a medical attention. And Sar1130, Teresamag, and GreenwoodBiewer all stepped in to help going above and beyond. They all set a great example of helping and making a difference. I wish the best to Bailey, Kas and her family.

That could be ..... or she just doesn't have questions now that Bailey is being treated; or mom won't let her back on here after seeing what was said or she had to go back to school today???? Just thinking of possibilities.

I guess I would like to think no one here would make threats or send hate mail due to this situation....but it is possible. One person might view some words as a threat or hateful while another may see the same words differently. Just look at this thread -- some think all that was said was appropriate but some do not. I tend to think she probably got PMs with more of the same, which I would not like if they came to my 13 year old child but I would not think it the end of the world either. We'll never know for sure but I bet whoever did send her any PMs, is re-evaluating their actions, don't you? Most of us have said things at one time or another that we wished we had not. Just have to pay the price, be accountable and then try to do better next time.

As to the threatening messages, no one has been suspended or banned, as far as I can tell. If the OP was so upset, why not just report the PMs and Admin. would have taken care of it.

What really does it for me is that the first vet didn't think she was pregnant and 'believed' it was Lyme disease. First off, false pregnancies don't have contractions associated with them. Secondly, if KAS thought she was in labor, she would have been far enough along, had there been a pregnancy, for any vet to feel a pup and wouldn't have to guess.

And how could the symptoms of a dog showing signs of labor to the OP be the symptoms of Lyme disease to a vet? Labor symptoms and Lyme disease symptoms are not even close in the way they present themselves. And why 'believe' she had Lyme disease. Why not just do a simple blood test and find out? Did the first vet not have needles, either?

And it's still a mystery why Bailey responded positively to calcium supplements, given that she has Lyme disease....but good of the OP to just happen to have them on hand.

Having said this, I hope 'Bailey' is feeling much better today.
