This thread has been a learning experience for all of us on many levels. It is hard to judge without knowing some of the facts. Newbies with no history need to share more up front, rather than scare the heck out of us.

What prevails here is PASSION for dogs. Bottom line is that it is still a good thing that there are people who are willing to help a stranger, just because they care about the dog. Bless them.

BTW, according to GWB, the OP received threatening emails. Since her account doesn't include an email address, I assume she means PM's. I in no way, shape or form would ever condone such behavior. If indeed this really happened, I should hope GWB would advise this young lady to report the offender(s) to admin.

Mary made the "damed if you do and damed if you don't" statement before anything went awry here, It is an ongoing reality for them! I see people complain if they don't answer a cry for help within minutes, like they stay attached to the computer 24/7! Then some complain when they offer help, saying mean things and accusing them of thinking they know it all or "are the end-all" -- even when they are just trying to get a pup in front of a vet! But I know Mary loves the breed and animals in general too much to not offer to help when she can. She just rises above it all and thinks of the pup knowing she may get bashed for her efforts. I think Woogieman is made of that same sort of cloth!

I will admit that I was slow to come on and help. I'd been watching this person's posts, starting the day before only after hearing Nancy on the phone crying and asking me to help. I had misgivings lately about offering assistance, even when requested. It's getting harder and harder to do so, when 99% of the time I walk away feeling I've not broken through the owner's mind set.

If you read this person's post, nowhere did she sound like a child. However, someone made mentiion of the possibility and a short while later it was revealed to be so.

Mary, the help you offer is so valuable, I hope you never stop trying regardless of how it is received or interpreted. We all learn from your experience, and other who read here will too. I never in my life will breed a dog, but if for some reason I am faced with a situation where someone needs help with whelping etc. I have actually absorbed enough knowledge from you and others to be helpful, and sure could steer somebody in the right direction.

Huge kudos to Mardelin and Woogieman who continued giving generously of their time, experience and knowledge just in case the dog might have been in labor. It sounded like the 13 year old may have been just seeing what info she could dig up online while mom was in contact with the vet and actally on top of the dog's situation. Mom and vet may not have even thought labor was a serious possibility for all we know. I remember back in 4H days though -- it was nothing for a 13 year old to birth & raise a calf, so it might have been the daughter most involved, but I tend to think mom probably was handling things and daughter was thinking of ways she could help, (i.e internet). Still the folks who gave advice and urged her to take the pup to the vet are to be applauded regardless. Always better safe than sorry.

I was a little surprised to read some thought nothing hateful, mean, threatening or inappropriate had been said. REALLY???? Are we allowed profanity? Even when made into creative acronyms or cute symbols replacing letters, it still means the same. But I could be wrong. I guess it is allowed. I also thought personal attacks and insults were not allowed, but I might be wrong about that too, since all of the following quotes were allowed to remain, even though we now know they were directed at a 13 yr old????

"What the H@@@@ is wrong with you. ... Good grief I don't understand immature people like you. "

"Your (OP) flippant attitude is offensive!!!"

IDK they seem like personal attacks and insults to me but maybe I have the wrong idea???? I have been known to before, have the wrong impression, that is. I left off who said what, because that is not really what is important here. More important to see if this really is acceptable here.

I also agree that if the young girl and her family received hate mail and threats as Greenwood Biewer said, those should be forwarded to admin who I hope would deal with the members concerned. I think we all agree on that (well ... except for the person who may have done it!) That is pretty low down and immature -- not to mention against the law if threats were really made. All in all, I guess the young member was shown two very different sides of YT! But that is the way of the world. I still ♥ YT, even when we show our rough edges.

Hope KAS comes back, lets us know more about her pup's progress and continues to learn. There is such a wealth of information here and she seems to be in a learning mode.
