How do I convince someone not to breed their dog?

Back to the topic...as much as you would like to, you can't take the dog to be spayed so you can only try to do like Kimberely suggests. She may not want to be educated, ignorance is bliss. I hope you succeed, good luck.

I do agree with this - there are always going to be people out there that just don't care to learn and will do as they please....

Ctsweety.....if you really want to easily educate her - BRING HER HERE to Yorkietalk (you may want to ask if someone would maybe delete your thread about her first though)

or take her to another site and see if she will read about breeding on the net - There would be no cost to you - and very informative - you never know - maybe she'll get hooked ...good luck

Kim, I have no reason to respond to your questions because they are not related to this post or the situation of this dog. Secondly, I would never allow my PET to be unaltered. I don't want to take the chance of him ever encountering an unaltered female and getting her pregnant. I would take all the neighborhood dogs around and get them altered if I had the time. I don't think this dog "owner" (have a hard time calling her that, since she is not providing the attention or care or even her own home like most dog owners do) can be compared to me and my life with Stewie.

....and I know how confident you are in your opinion so how can you think I am trying to get others to "gang up" on you?

And even if I were, it is not like you to care. I was just looking to see how many agree with you versus me, because I think the advice you are giving this member is very bad indeed based on the law, decency and morality.

You have stated that you think the foster parent should have the dog spayed w/o the owner's consent all from seeing one picture and hearing what the foster parent has to say with no input from the rightful owner at all. How can you or anyone think that is fair?

I am sorry, I didn't know that you had had Stewie altered. The last I knew he was still intact. I hope he had an uneventful surgical experience and recovered quickly.

It is still not your right to assert yourself into others lives when it comes to matters like the riskiness of surgery and the rights of animals and pet owners (to state that you would consider rounding up the pets in your neighborhood and having them altered one by one is pretty scary stuff for me) but I think the majority of the members of this forum including the the member who started this thread realize this so I don't think you or I need to say anymore.

I think YOU should start taking your own advice about asserting yourself into others lives with regard to altering and vaccinations, homeopathic vets, breeding TINY dogs and the new one "theorieroroeoeroroeologist". I like how you attacked me and my opinions, then tried to tell me I shouldn't respond and that nothing else needs to be said. I just try to ignore it, but now I'm SICK. If the majority of the members of this forum agree w/ irresponsible breeding and ignoring measures that could be done to prevent it, then GOD BLESS THEM and their valuable opinions.

Kristy said something that she would LIKE to do - it is far different than actually doing it....if all the dogs I see running around MY neighborhood were picked up and neutered - the shelters would be FAR LESS full of unwanted puppies....
