| over here, the main reason for not registering a litter seems to be because the dam is being overbred... every season until she stops going into heat. we have a big puppy farm problem here, shelters/rescues and my own vet has seen Far too many older (6-7+) toy breed dogs that people have bought from breeders (or have been abandoned) and are on the brink of death from overbreeding- thats the reason 'both parents kc reg, puppies not' sends up a red flag to me... as well as all reasons already given, keep this in mind if you wish to proceed, but you could be taking on a lot of medical costs if the breeder isnt being honest.

| She can not advertize the pups as AKC unless she applies for registration..just because the parents have AKC regs means nothing regarding the pups...registering the litter and making them eligable for registration makes them AKC... AND unfortunately AKC has no restrictions on how many litter a dam may produce and in what time frame..she may be bred every heat and AKC will still accept...shameful. | I would not buy the puppy. if she is decietful about one thing, she will be deceitful about other things. You shop for a breeder first and then shop for the puppy. Research for a good breeder. There are lots of them out there all over the country, witthin driving distance of everyone. |

| Question here..could it also be that she has only AKC limited registration on her dogs & then bred them anyway? Therefore the pups can not be registered AKC?

i still cant believe that Every litter can be registered! does there seem to be any thought into changing that where akc is concerned? because even though we already have a number limit in place, they are pushing for council licensed breeders to all comply with it and for the rules to be even more strict and beneficial to the dogs themselves...
