| I'm no breeder but I can give you some suggestion that I have seen here on YT...Try goats milk...its as close to moms milk as you can get..better than the puppy milk you get from the vet...one part goats milk and one part distilled water...give at room temp...you can get both in Walmart....make sure the pups are warm very important before feeding...if you don't have one already get a heating pad put in the whelping box under a blanket to keep pups warm at all times...I know Mom can't nurse, try putting a onize on her to keep the pups from nursing and let mom still clean and potty them...here is a another to try if the pups are weak....hope this helps..good luck. | I almost forgot add a little of karo syrup to the equal part goats milk and equal part distilled water.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Are you warming the milk? Goats milk is the best to use. Have you tried a preemie bottle? I never thought it would work but it was suggested to me and I tried with one and shocked it worked. Even if mom is diapering them make sure you do it before feeding. They also have to be burped after feeding. If you don't they can get a belly ache and not want to eat. You may check with your vet about tube feeding. Some don't like to do it but I have saved several pups tube feeding.

| Especially since they are 3 weeks old already, I would try the bigger bottle (i.e. preemie nurser mentioned earlier) as the tiny little bottles they sell for puppies are more for the newborn size. But they are probably big enough to lap up the milk from a saucer at this point. Have you tried that? If they won't lap milk or nurse from a bottle, then you will have to syringe in some milk. It is forcing but that is to make sure they survive. I had one that would not latch on, I had to use the syringe for a little over a week. Then finally he got the notion to suck! Thank goodness. I want to repeat to use goat's milk. Mine did not do well on either of the prepared formulas I tried. But they thrived on goat's milk. I had to hand feed 5 pups from day 3 on through til they were weaned. It was a bittersweet journey -- sad as I had lost their momma but such a joy as all 5 made it fine. Hang in there as next week you can get them to start eating food from a bowl and ease up a bit on bottle feeding. So, not too much longer.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I've had my fair share of hand raising babies (even a cleft pallet baby) and I always used a premie nipple. worked PERFECT. This past year I have to raise a litter of 5 right from birth as mom had PRE eclampsia and they did wonderful. I make a home made formula and the babies totally THRIVE on it. They were the fattest little butterballs I ever seen haha. its alot of hard work, trust me....but I will tell you I actually looked forward to their feedings. Mom and I worked together. She wore a onsie (of course I had to go buy her the most cutest ones and change them up all the time LOL) and she stayed with the babies 24/7. she did everything else and I fed them. Good luck to you. Please post an update when you have time Quote:
