They try to price themselves comparable to responsible breeders who've been breeding for years and have paid their dues, meaning they've gone about it the right way. So when you buy online, price can be very deceiving of the type of breeder you are supporting.
I agree

i prob. make under 20,000 salary and I can afford a $1000 investment into the 12-15 year long HEALTHY life of my pet. and if you can't go rescue. you get a spay/neutered, all shots, healthy enough dog for less....don't support a puppy mill and by GOD for the love of pete DO NOT CLAIM that a good breeder is the reason we have mills.

Guess I missed the final fireworks, sick yesterday and did not get on although it seems I left my computer on and missed a lot of FB messaging and had a full inbox here at YT! SORRY! I will get better at keeping it deleted down. I like to keep a lot of old msgs as I never remember member names especially when so many are similar, and a few messages can remind me of who is who.

I was about to advise our critic to read the Earned Respect thread when I saw that it was already suggested. Seems the person did not take the hint and got the boot. Just as well as that seems to have been their goal with coming here in the first place. Strange deal that!

Glad the thread took another turn and became amicable again! Surprising how much it can lighten a mood when one bad apple is removed.

BTW I agree we need to get Mary on the ballot! MA-RY! MA-RY! MA-RY! You can run on the Yorkshire Party ticket! Now for a VP candidate......hmmmmmmm.... I will think about that for awhile.

Feeling some better today -- hope it stays for more than a day this time. Bad week for my pancreatitis to flare up -- 4 out of last 6 days have been BAD. I need to do my floors this morning and grocery shop this afternoon. Then my son will be home from college! Yea! I love that kid! I think I am willing good health to come just so I can enjoy his visit!

Hope you soon feel better, and stay that way, and have a great Thanksgiving with your family. Always nice when the kids come home for a Holiday, and having them around.

Mary will need a strong VP candidate for her ticket. The Gov. of Louisiana or the Gov of NY would make a good choice. We can all say we knew Mary when.....

I have a problem with names too. But, suggestion, I'm sure you already know YT has the capability of building files/folders....you can do that and transfer what you want into one

Earned Respect is one of the most enlightening, wonderful piece anyone has ever written.

Not sure about the Yorkshire Party ticket in can be confused with something else But, named something else, I'd have no qualms having you as a running mate....

Hope you're feeling better. I came back from Vegas with something I can't seem to shake. Getting to feeling ok and them wham! I'm down again.

Maybe it would be good to have both sexes represented. A veteran would be a nice touch too, for the patriotic flavor, leadership experience and who doesn't love a Marine? Your vast difference in dog choices also shows how willing you are to see both sides of a subject and would be willing to cross the aisle to promote unity, so to speak. Good sense of humor, willing to add a little spice occasionally..... Yes, I think you might be a potential running mate for Mary.

I forgot about the files/folders! I will work on that after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the compliment on the Earned Respect post. It is no secret it was you I was referring most to in that thread, when I spoke of experienced and knowledgable breeders. I thought it very apt for reading when in this thread, it was suggested that you read about Yorkie (sic)"confirmation," (aka conformation) attend a few shows, etc. Whew! How you managed to stay calm after that!

Not sure which party you mean might be confused with Yorkshire -- I even went and read the list on Wikipedia. Thta was informative! I never knew most of those parties existed. The Pirate Party, The Marijuana Party??? But I don't think I would be a good running mate. I tend to forget tact and diplomacy at times.

I hope I can stay well for the rest of the week too! I am going to try not to eat today so I can get some things done. Need to have the house company ready as I am hosting the Thanksgiving feast for the Florida side of the family. Hope you kick that Vegas bug too! That happens so often when traveling, especially when getting together with people from all over. Everyone brings their bugs along. You usually build an immunity to your own local bugs, but when a variety is thrown in the mix, it can hit harder and longer than usual.

Amazing I was the only one that picked the bug up. But, you're right about picking up bugs when away from your general local area. There were 56 of us that came home from NY National with Legionaires Disease

Ah I see some posts have been deleted, damn.
All I can say is that nobody is forcing you to pay a lot of money for a dog.
If you want a yorkie but can't afford $1,000 - $2,000 for one then you can always get one from a rescue.
If you want a show dog with champion lines then i'm sorry but you will have to pay more money.
In order to have a champion, breeders have spent a lot of their own money in the first place improving their lines and showing their dogs.
They will also stand behind their dogs forever, unlike BYB's and pet shop/puppy mills.

It also depends on the breed.
It seems the Yorkshire Terrier is an expensive breed to purchase in the USA, here in England they are not so expensive. You would probably pay anywhere from 200GBP - 400GBP for a pet and maybe 1000GBP for a show dog. But it all depends on the breeder and whatever price they see fit for their pups.
I dont think it's anyone's business but their own as to how they price their pups, if you dont like it then don't buy from them. It's simple.
My boyfriend breeds bulldogs and he sells his males for around 1,500GBP and his females for 2,000GBP. Of course not everyone can afford that amount of money but if that is what you want then you will have to pay the price, or look into rescues.
But just like yorkies, bulldogs are not an easy breed when it comes to breeding them.
They need help when giving birth and most of the time will need a C-section, this alone can cost the breeder a lot of money.

I find you very disrespectful and I almost laughed out loud when you challenged Mary's dogs. Her dogs are beautiful and I would bet my house that they would kick your butt.
And the fact that you would disrespect someone who has served for your country just sickens me.

I also find it hard to take anyone seriously who has never heard of a paragraph.
Typing....like....this...is....very....annoying.

You hit a lot of good points but this is my fave! As a history major, I wrote A LOT of papers and notes. I hate seeing people butchering the English language when really it only takes 2 more seconds to create an easy to read, easy to understand piece. I'm so hating the texting lingo. Oh and I'm 25, so you can't say I'm angry because I'm too old to get into new technology.
