| Yup I use the clear plastic rubbermaid or other brand tote. I use clear so I can see momma and the babies. I then place that tote in a crate that has homemade curtains on 3 sides. I leave the front coverless cause I am a worry wart and must see momma and babies at all times. But that is me...nosey nelly, worry wart, whatever lol

| I did use the wooden type like is pictured but when blood or whatever got on them you cannot get it off. I felt like they were not as clean. I use kennelsol on mine and a bleach solution 10:1 every day to keep away germs. A breeder that I just got my pups from uses the wood type but uses that laminate covered wood that can wipe clean and even has rails on them. Her hubby makes them for her. They are nice! With no hubby anymore I am useless with that, but sure can drill holes in a tote. I pay around 8 bucks for the tote and the material to cover the crate was 2 bucks a yard and I think I used 2 yards and a little thread. So about 12 bucks invested....and the material is cute

| box I used a clear Sterilite storage container, you probably want to get one that is 1ft x 2ft because I think mine was too small (it says 28 quarts on the sticker but doesn't give dimensions). I also got a tent that fit around it nicely, and lined the sides with rolled up hand towels so it created a bumper around the inside of the box. Then some old sheets on top of that (will need to be changed a lot) and viola. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I had some extra thick wood so I made one myself but I also made a pad around the wood that I could remove and wash as needed and works really good for me. |

I like to put the whelping box at one end of a x-pen then I drape a sheet over the top of the x-pen to give the momma privacy and to cut out any breeze.

| We have one of those (not for a whelping box) but it is easy to keep clean bottom is a plastic canvas material that can be washed. The top zips off. and also has two side zippers. Not sure if it would work for a whelping box but they are nice.
