| ![]() Believe me the Mother Club of any breed does nothing without full compliance of the AKC. BY Laws; how elections are handled, etc. Each club be it a breed club or an all breed club that is a member of AKC must follow all rules and regulations of the AKC. In our membership, it tells each YTCA member that if for any reason we have committed an infraction against AKC rules and are suspended or banned, we are automatically banned from the mother club too.

It was the way it was explained to me. A breeder/exhibitor usually breeds for their next Champion to add to their breeding program. One that is no longer showing, but still breeding to improve the breed, is probably still continuing with their passion, but more as a hobby. But, I guess you can consider both as hobbies.....cause we gotta be crazy to do it... We pay for entry fees, hotel fees and travel expenses......for those 2 minutes the judge goes over your dogs....so, we got a be crazy.

I know what you mean about our expenses showing. I just reserved my hotel today for a show and having to pay extra 15.00 dog fee for hotel. Not bad, but have to watch those pennies. And I paid my entry fees last Wednesday on line and have the 3.50 added free since I pay on line. I did save 1.75 of that though. Then food and let's not forget the vendors!! They are so tempting. I need a new CC brush. Three in full coats now I have to get several new brushes. ![]() Last edited by topknot; 07-20-2010 at 05:45 PM. | |

I have a new one coming up.....so, I'm starting all over again. Just began looking for wrapping jackets, cause before I know it I'll be needing one for her. And guess what, that puppy coat has already made me spend a fortune. And gotta start making those bows for her. Yep! Gotta be crazy.

Please cut us some slack as we put together this club whose purpose is, in the purest sense, to improve overall quality of our beloved breed. This is the place where the well intentioned BYB can get practical advice on how to advance to the next level without being overwhelmed by the show world. It's about support and encouragement without the pressure of competition, and recognition for good, caring breeding practice and responsibility to the families who purchase our puppies.

| ![]() Within our context, a "hobby" breeder is one whose interest in breeding is more for pleasure than making money. When we do have a little money ahead it usually goes back out for a better quality dog. We're interested in showing but reluctant due to shyness, thin skin, financial or time constraints. I show and have champions but consider it all a hobby. Thank you all for your interest. Please join us to get direct input into what we say and how we say it.

| ![]() Susan, I am so sorry that your first experience showing was so scary. It should have been a great one with a support sysytem for you. Did you have anyone helping to guide you? All I can say is that my experience was great! Everyone was fantastic and I learned so much. I had some of the best mentors - top yorkie people and they were always so kind to me and after even returning to showing after a long break - I have been greeted with open arms and have made some great friends. If I ever need their help they are there. ![]() |

| ![]() And not well respected by whom and why? Whether one has a dislike for them, they are still the yorkie governing club.
