| Do breeders KNOW what color your dog will be Im wondering if Gatsby will be the color the breeder said he would. he was supposed to be blue and gold but he just dose not seem to be changing.i ws told by two years old he would be almost done with the color change. he is 1 1/2 and he has barely started. he started at his head at about 7 months and he changed a lot in the next two months then he stopped now he has as slightly silvery head and the rest of him dark except on his face which has changed a lot his feet have also lightened up a bit Will he continue to change or is this it? i also heard that improper nutrition can halt the color change is this true.if it is then he has chronic anemia that we are just now being able to get to the bottom of and treat so is it possible that with the iron supplement he will start to change again thanks

| I don't know maybe you can ask at the breeder section, I think they can have a idea, I want it a black and tan/gold yorkie puppy hahahahaI was so ignorant of the breed, that I didn't know the puppies are black and tan, well most of them, thank God for yt lol, but I was in love with my neighbor dark yorkie that I want it one, Phoebe's breeder told me that her dam puppies usually stay dark, but of course she can't warranty that, for my surprise Phoebe and her sisters are dark just like her mommy their dad is steal blue and tan/golden, she was right; by the way your furbaby is just adorable

| You have a pretty good idea of what a pup will grow up to be by looking at parents, but just like size you don't know 100% until the pup is grown up. You can always get a throw back. Maleah was still pure black at a year and started changed around a year and half. She is now still darker, but a very rich blue and gold now at over two. If both parents are dark you usually get dark babies...if both are light the pups are usually light

| an educated guess is their best answer. knowing their pedigree can't help but there is no promise. each pup is different though most use 2yrs as the rule of thumb. my first yorkie wasn't done changing until he hit 4 yrs. my second yorkie was done at 1 and 1/2. most breeders i know will say they can't promise color or size somewhere in their contract. |

If the breeder registers the pup as black and tan and later on down the road the pup turns out to be blue and gold, is that a major issue, as far as the registration of the pup? If so, is there anything that can be done to correct this? I only ask because my Dawson is registered as black and tan, but he is clearly a blue color now. Thanks, YorkieProud WHO LISTENS BETTER YORKIES OR TEENAGERS? I THINK WE ALL KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE. YORKIES!!!! LOL!! | |

I really don't know. I don't think it would be a problem at all. Do you plan to show your Dawson? If so, let me get a good answer for you and get back to you. If I don't get back to you within a couple of days PM me and hit me about the head. Sometimes I get busy and forget.
